Weather Results In Low Nut Quantity
Cockrell, Moore Win Pecan Show
ftven though the number of en
tries were limited, the Shackel
ford County Pecan and Food
Show had "a lot of quality and
depth" according lo judges Joe
Wilson and Fred Schlutt
Harold Cockrell took champion
ship honors in both the shelling
and in shell divisions, while
Vaughn Moore won in the native
category.
Cockrell's shelling entry was a
Shawnee and the in shell variety
was Mohawk.
The Courthouse was awarded
Heserve Champion In shell with a
llelmas pecan,' and a western
pecan won reserve in the shelling
division shown by Cecil Gray I lie
reserve native was entered by
Winkler.
All of the champion and reserve
entrfea plus four additional
pecans were selected to be sent to
th* regional show in Wichita k alls
December H, \9H2. Coekrell will be
showing the four extra entries.
In I he food show, the following

dinator of the show, judge Joe
Wilson commented that the
reason for the small quantity ol
nuts l his year is due mainly to t lie
overproduction of most trees last
year, plus the excessive rain dur
nig the pollen time in April and
the extra drv bite summer and
tall."

Christmas Concert Slated Sunday
Christmas music will abound at
the Albany High School
Auditorium at 2:00 pin. Sunday
when a Christmas concert will be
presented by Albany school
bands and choirs.
The fifth, sixth, seventh and
eighth, and high school bands will
be under the direction of Charlie
Mayes, as will the AHS Jazz
Hand.
The elementary, junior high
and high school choirs will be
under the direction of Sandy
Mayes.
Some choir selections include
"Chocolate Burro," Horn in a
Manger," "Jolly Old Saint Nick,
"Coventry Carol," and "The Jesus
Gift."
Band selections include
Hudolph. the Ited Nosed
Hei'ndeer," Hells on < hnstmas
Morning," 'Suite lor Obi St.
Nick.' 'Carol lor Another t'hrist

The public is invited to enjoy
