Three Groups to
Provide Musical
Entertainment
A wide range of musical entertain-
ment will be offered during "Back to
Rath's Trail." The first will be Friday
night when the Rueffer Boys of the
Metroplex perform for the first Frontier
Ball. The ball will be from 8:45 p.m. to
midnight on the Hamlin National Bank
parking lot.
Saturday, the Catclaw Creek Boys
from Abilene will perform during three
sessions. Show times are 10 a.m., 12:30
p.m. and 3 p.m. All three performances
will be in front of Hamlin National Bank.
The six-piece band will perform pe-
riod music, along with a special tribute
to hymnwriter John B.F. Wright. Mr.
Wright composed more than 200 hymns
in his lifetime, of which "Precious
Memories" was his best known. The
hymn was composed just outside of
Hamlin in 1923.
Haywire will close out the weekend's
musical entertainment with the second
Frontier Ball Saturday. The dance will
be from 8:45 p.m. to midnight on the
bank south parking lot.'
The balls commemorate the time
when dancing girls were brought to Rath
City front Fort Griffin.
There is no admission charge, but
donations will be accepted during the
dances. Dancers and listeners are en-
couraged to bring a lawn chair.
The Rueffer Boys is a father-son three-
piece country-western oriented trio, ba-
ther, Dennis, has played for various
groups in and around Dallas-Fort Worth
for22 years. A native oi l laskell, Dennis
started playing guitar in a local teenage
group.
Sons Reggie and Chad both were part
of a neighborhood bluegrass band in the
early XO's. They progressed from there
through different rock bands arid alter-
native groups. Reggie has Worked for
such notables as Ray Price and Johnny
Bush.
The "Boys" work the famous
I lermann Sons Lodge at Old Glory two
to three times a year and will return to
the lodge June 21.
Members of the Catclaw Creek Boys
are Dr. Ronnie Prevost, Bill Casey, Dr.
Taylor Rankin, Dr. Herb Grover, Dr.
Paul Madden and Greg Young. The
group performs gospel, bluegrass, west-
em and original music.
Haywire is not stranger to area resi-
dents with many of the band being former
members of Triple Shot who performed
for last year's Frontier Ball. Members of
the group are J.D. Josey, vocals and
drums; R.P. Seher, lead guitar and vo-
cals; Ranny Wheeler, bass guitar and
vocals; Danny Letz, steel guitar and
vocals and James Holley, vocals and
rhythm guitar.
