THE ABUSE OF CORPOR-
ATION.
The abuse of corporations
iias for years been the political
slogan of a particular sect in
certain States, and in Texas
particularly has this abuse
lieen carried on to the detri
men 1 of both corporation and
commonwealth. This abuse ol
corporation has a somewhat
mythical base, the foundation
possibly being determined in
the minds of men who, by creat
ing a popular prejudice, man
aged to ride on the crest of the
wave into a political harbor of
affluence and personal prestige
file public understanding,
however, is growing more acute
as a definite knowlege breaks
the horizon of thought and lets
the light ill upon the darkness.
Corporation, instead of being
consuming Molochs, devoruing
the substance of the people,
have been found working to a
comon good and for t he develop-
ment of both individual and
civic prosperity. What is a
corporation but a combination
of individuals and capita .1, mak-
ing possible what was impossi-
ble to the unit, and creating
values and sources of industry
aud wealth for the many. The
greater the corporation, the
more people it employs and
ihe more potent its influence
for good.
Legal restrictions very
effectually estop evil possibili-
ties, and thus aggregated capi
till can but work to develop
ment and production. The
great Stale of Texas with its
wonderful resources, need all
the capital it can secure, and
liberal treatment and a proper
consideration will insure the
consummation of the State's
destiny.—Literary Bureau.

The stomach controls the
situation. Those who are
hearty and strong are those
who can eat and digest plenty
of food. Kodol Dyspepsia
Cure digests what you eat and
allows you to eat all I lie yood
food you want. If you suffer
from indigestion, heartburn,
belching or any other stomach
trouble, this preparation can't
help but do you good. The
most sensitive stomachs can
take it. J. W. Manning.

WHAT'S THE USE.
"No! No! Let us not burden
our time with trifles and our
souls with grievances. We are
every one of us good, bad and
indifferent in our daily journey,
walking with steady or un-
steady step directly toward an
open giave, and why fret and
worry over anything? What
is the laurel wreath of fame,
but a shadow? What is wealth
but a bubble? Let us do our
duty—ihe right as God ^ives
as to see the right, with malice
toward none, with charity for
all.
"What's the us» ? Yes. what'?
he use of noticing annoyances,
t he shafts of envy and jealousy,
the injustice of false friends or
the attack of enemies be they
ever so aggressive, for ere long
• very enem\ ana every false
friend will be in his coffin be-
hind the hearse horses, or else
you will. "Go on from day to
day and take your medicine be
i' ever so bitter, indulge in neith-
er 'swears or groans' bear your
burdens bravely,and if an extra
heavy one is thrown you,
'grin and bear it and make 110
kicks and squirms, remember
it is better to be a burden-
bearer than a burden. Be
happy and making others hap-
py. Do all the good you can
to as many people as you can,
as often as you ever can. Live
temperate lives in thought word
deed, and leave all else to God.
Above all, don't hurry, don't
judge—What's the use?"—Ex.
