once a month.
Mim Nina Suther presented
the luncheon program. She
gave a summary of the impor-
tant topics the WSCS would
atudy in the new book, "On
Asia's Rim" by Andrew T. Iloy.
The flrst lesson is scheduled for
Sept. 11. Mrs. Bob Cannon will
be the leader and the program
will be given by Mrs. C, 8.
Home and Mrs. Robert W.
Brown.
Mrs. J. A. Tucker, president,
extended greetings to oil pres-
ent and solicited their coopera-
tion ami prayers for the work
of the new year. During a brief
business session Mrs. R. J.
Moberiey wan elected a new
member of the nominating com-
mittee. Other members are
Mrs. J. B. Lipscomb and Mrs.
W. O. Whorton.

vote of thanks was given Mrs.
Brown for her excellent work.

day evening, Aug. 29, in the
home of Mrs. Ruby Moore.

her duties Sept. 14, which will
be the beginning of rush week.

chairman, read from the third
chapter of John and the tenth
chapter of Matthew, using as
her subject, "Go Ye."
The 'group made plans for
the Septenber project. A ship-
ment of jackets and sweaters
will be sent to the Church World
Service,
The hostess served ice cream
and cake to ten members.

Group Meets
Mrs, Morvin Kncke was wel-
comed as a new member when
the evening group of the Chris-
tian Women's Fellowship met
Wedneiday evening in the home
of Mrs. A. V. Jones, Sr., for
their September meeting.
Mrs. Aries Macon, chairman,
opened the meeting with pray-
er led by Mrs. l.olo Burleson.
During the routine business
session the time of meeting
was set for 7:30 on
the first Wednesday in each
month.
Mrs. Albert Porter displayed
an inspirational worship center
ond gave the devotion stressing
our responsibility to the minor-
ity groups of the United States.
Mrs, Harry Scott, program
leader, touched briefly on the
needs of certain cultural groups
such as the Japanese-speaking
churches, the Spanish speaking
churches of New York and Tex-
as. She and Mrs. Azalee Ma-
con t?ave a detailed report on
their vi it to lnman Institute at
San Antonio.
Mrs. Jones told of the work
with the Negro, showing pic-
tures and giving the highliirhtn
of her trip to Hazel Green
\cademy in Kentucky and Jar-
vi College at Harkins, Texas.
The program closed with a
talk by Mrs. Porter on "An In-
terracial Community," all peo-
ples church in Colorado.
Following the benediction the
hostess served ice cream and
cake,.

by Kinnard Mink, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs, Blrl Kinnard, re-
ceiving a message from Anarc-

Harold David Mink who is at-
tached to Operation Deep
Freeze at Byrd Station, Anarc-
tica with the Cee Bees, a
branch of the Navy, sent a
message by amateur rai!io set
up by his wife, the former Bob-
by Kinnard of Abilene, Texas,
and their three children, Carla,
li, Robbie ft, and Ronnie 214.
Mrs. Mink and her children,
who reside at Fountain Head,
received the message from her
husband by ham rndio Monday,
Aue\ 20, through courtesy and
effort of Mr. Charlie Green.
This was the first word she had
received from him in four
months
Operation Deep Freeze is
I snowed in, with no way to get
I mail in or out. The men live
under the ground in barrack:
I covered with snow. It is winter
there now and completely dark,
but the darkness will end about
the mid lie of October and the
weather will get a little warmer,
When the snow clears, mail can
go through and fresh supplies
can be brought in by plane.
Mrs. Mink expects her bus-
band home about the 15th of
November after which he will
have served ,i year with Opera-
tion Deep Freeze, After this,

day from a two-week vacation
