Albany Tennis Tournament
Draws Area Participation
The seventh annual Albany
Tennis Tournament was held
last week, beginning August 8
with preliminary matches, and
ending Sunday, August 14 with
the finals.
"By having consolations, we
have a double elimination
tournament," commented Dr.
T. M. Howie, general manager
of the event, "Almost two
tournaments, in fact."
Marilynne Jacobs and Lis
Green assisted in registration
of players, especially the
women, and kept score on the
women's events.
"We had a big but not
completely unwieldy tourna-
ment," Dr. Howie continued.
'This was in spite of the fact
that the entries were scattered
geographically. There is
naturally some difficulty in
arranging matches because of
that. And there are work
conflicts—jobs—that the entries
must take care of before they
can play tennis. I think we did
very well in arranging to have
all the preliminary matches at
hours convenient to those
involved,"
