Collecting and Insurance Agents.*
ALBANY, Shackelford County, TEXAS.
We have a number of desirable
bargains in land, which we will take
pleasure in showing to parties who
wish to invest in northwest Texas.
Our facilities were never better
than at present, for serving the pub-
lic in the agency business.
List your property with us and get
quick returns.
Yours Respectfully,
Newcomb Picnic.
Picnic given by the Newcomb
and Baker school last Saturday
at the Hubbard bridge was a
success in every way. It was
a success from the standpoint of
plenty of good things to eat.
The people of Newcomb and
Baker never go short on any
thing as to that. There was a
large crowd out from Shackel-
ford and Stephens both, and
the nicest and best looking set
of candidates that we have ever
seen together at one time and
place. We believe though the
Stephens county boys were in
the majority, and by the way,
they are a right nice looking set
of candidates, and if we lived
in that county it would be hard
for us to make our choice.
Stephens county ought to be
able to choose a good set of
officers this year, as she has
plenty of material to draw
from; for instance, in the As-
sessors race there's only 12 to
pick from. In the afternoon
Sam Webb and Judge Chism
made a talk to the schools,
after which the candidates were
introduced by S. L. Ellis of
Stephens county, and C. F.
Snialley of Shackelford, and
each of them made .their an-
nouncements. Everything pass-
ed off pleasantly. After the
speech making the crowd dis-
persed; feeling that the day
had been well spent.
Art Exhibit.
By Miss Hassell under the
auspices of the Albany Reading
Club Thursday, April the 28t.h
at the Reynolds Academy.
Miss Hassell is a fine lecturer
and those who attended were
highly entertained. It's al-
ways conceded before hand
when the Albany Reading Club
takes hold of anything that it's
first class. The art exhibit
was not only entertaining but
it was instructive.
Mrs. H. C. ArendtDead.
Just before going to press we
received a telephone message
that Mrs. H. C. Arendt died
this Thursday evening, 3 p. m.
Funeral services Friday after-
noon at the Albany Cemetery.
What became of those two
candidates who failed to make
their announcements Saturday.

lady."
