Student Coach Has
Good Material
Student Coach Howard Sinclair
has been pleasantly surprised by
ihe material he found in the 15
men who reported for basketball
practice.
I'l'aclicc sessions bas e been held
I
twice a week since Now 1 in the!
|
Held iiou.se. The <|uintet has shap-i
ed up so well that Sinclair has de-
cided to schedule a few practice
games before the team begins its
schedule in the Cily League De-
cember 12. i
Dean Click said if the Rani live
does well in the City loop, games
with other college teams will be
scheduled later on.
A center is the main worry of
Sinclair because of the painful foot
injury that put Rugby Green on a
crutch. Green, high point man of
last year's roundballers, suffered a
milled tendon in the second inac-
tive session.
Injother positions, Sinclair is.
well fortified. Martin Vftsfjuez and
Neil Laminack could play guard on
any learn, both having experience.
Sinclair is hoping ho can lind time
to get in some time at guard him-
S' If. Wallace Thomas, Charlie
Morris and John Riggers also are
showing talent ai the important
position.
Charl"s Cheek all hut has a for-
ward position cinched. Ilis spee<\
ability m taking rebounds and iiis
ball handling will he valuable to
the Rams. Douglas and Edward
Harris, Boh Blackburn. John Me-
coniums and J'icl; .Oliver are ma-
terial f'om wi ch Sinclair has to
select his other first siring for-
ward.
If Green isn't in shape to play in
the opening games, Sinclair can
rely on Farrell Odom and Robert
Sanders to hold down center. San- j
ders is also a guard. Odom, who j
had never played basket ball before
this year, is hard working. He i
is showing improvement with j
every practice session and his atti- j
tude will result him much game
time.

ey teams for interamural competi-
tion in the Women's Alhlelic Asso-
ciation, Miss Mavbelle Tinkle, de- 1
partment head, has announced.
The team sport competition will
continue until the Christmas holi-
days.
The first intramural season of
the association has closed with
dormitory students victors over
towirsuidents in two of a series of
three hockey games.
John Goode: "There was a ter-
rible murder in the dorm yester-
day."
■Neil Laminack: "Was there?"
John Goode: "Yes, a paper-hang-
er hung a border."
Neil Laminack: "It must have
been a put up job."
