Honors Mrs. Taggert
Mrs. Wayne Taggert, a rccent
bride, was honoree when the
WSCS entertained last Saturday
afternoon with a miscellaneous
shower in the fellowship hall of
the Methodist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Burton,
parents of the bride, the bride
and ffroom, and Mrs. Shelton Roy-
all, aunt of the bride, composed
the receiving line.
Mrs. E. O. Kinnison registered
guests.
The tea table was beautifully
appointed with crystal on a hand-
drawn linen cloth. The center-
piece was an arrangement of
double wedding rings anil a bride
and groom.
Mrs. B. Ij. Chaney ladled punch
and Mrs. Pearl Roach served the
cake. The bride's chosen colors,
pink and white, were carried out.
Mrs. Kinnison presented the
program. Christy Royall, cousin
of the bride from Haskell, toasted
the bride. Sarah Mason sang
"Always," accompanied by Mrs.

was called and with the assistance
of her nurse, Jill Hamilton, a
thorough check of the patient

from "Marriageitis." The doctor

starts sept. 14
Postmaster Morris Cottle an-
nounced this week that rural mail
carriers will begin distributing
1!»'!0 acreage survey cards to pa-
trons on their routes about Sept.
14.
The Post Office and U. S. Agri-
culture Departments cooperatively
make this survey each year. These
reports, directly from farmers are
the basis for official estimates for
Texas acreage of all crops har-
vested in 1960.
To be sure this community is
well represented in the survey,
Postmaster Cottle urges each pa-
tron receiving it card to fill it out
and return It to his mailbox,
Rural mall carriers working on
this project are Jack Dennis, route
1, and Wiley C. Williams, route
2.

The
Sept
of a girl for the Student Council
to represent the F. H. A. was held.
Sandy Huskey was elected. The
election for vice-president was
held also, and Linda Weir was
elected. Chairmen for the decor-
ating of the goal post at the foot-
ball games in .Moran were nomi-
nated. Kay llenda was elected
chairman lor the first game. Those
helping Kay will be Margaret Sim-
mons, Ann Henda, Annie Jo Wil-
otli and Linda Weir. Sandy Mid-
kiff was nominated as chairman
for the homecoming game. Those
helping will be Shirley Ilagemann,
Jill Hamilton, Sandy Huskey,
Clmrlene Hnrrlgnn, and Robbie
Martin. Chairman for the third
game is Theresa Noles. Those
helping her will be Janle Midklff,
Patti I'ippen, Dianna Wlloth and
Hillie Jean Tubbs.
The FIIA Is also selling ribbons
for the games. The price is fif-
teen cents a ribbon.
The FHA beau was also elect-
ed. James Shelton is the Moran
FHA beau.
student council
The Student Council was organ-
ized Tuesday morning. Mr. Hurton
and Mrs. Moore are the sponsors,
I'he Student Council officers were
elected. They are: Houston Con-
nally, president; Dann> Stephens,
vice-president; Shirley H igemann,
secretary; James Shelton, treasur-
er; Sandy Huskey, reporter; Lin-
da Weir, historian; Charles Tubbs,
sergeant at anus; and Joe Parker,
parliamentarian. The other mem-
bers are Jill Hamilton and Janie
Midklff, The project for the Stu-
dent Council this year is to pub-
lish the annual, Jill Hamilton was
appointed editor-in-chief of the
annual.

Shower Thursday
Mr. and Mrs. Chnrlie Harber
were honored with a miscellane-
ous shower in the fellowship hall
of the Raptist Church by the
ladles of the Raptist Church Inst
Thursday night.
James Matthews served as nins-
ter of ceremonies,
Mrs. Glen Cottle accompanied
by Mrs. Garland Shelton led the
congregation in singing two
hymns. Mrs. Cottle and Mrs. ('.
S. Harrow, accompanied by Mrs.
Shelton, sang "Others."
The honored couple, whose
home and furnishings burned, re-
ceived ninny beautiful and useful
gifts.

Luncheon Club
The Moran Luncheon Club was
hosted Wednesday of this week by
Mrs. Grady Burton and Mrs. E. 0.
Kinnison. Rev. C. A. Holcomb,
Jr., of Stamford brought the pro-
gram.
Next week, Sept. 14, Mrs. J. M.
Townsend and her group will
serve the luncheon. Mrs. Gar-
land Shelton will have charge of
the program.
Wednesday, Sept. 21, the Deep
Creek ladies, with Mmes. Fred
Ellis, C. S. Barrow and R. W.
Rrooks as co-hostesses, will serve
the club. Mrs. Gladys Loudder
will have charge of the program.
Mnke plans now to come to the
Moran Luncheon Club.
Guests in the home of Mr*. Rom
McCollum last week were her sis-
ter, Mrs. Ida Willhite of Weather-
ford; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Wal-
ter Redder, and her little grand-
son, nnd Steve Reeder and son, all
of Dallas.

of Fort Sill, Okla., and Mr. and
Mrs. 0. D. Allbritton and family
of Louisiana spent the week-end
with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charlie Harber. Mr. and Mrs.

Bulldogs Drop
Season Opener
The Moran Bulldogs' six-man
football team was handed a 26-6
setback by a fast running O'Brien
team last Friday night in O'Brien.
A speedy backfield for O'Brien
scored four touchdowns on runs
of 78, 50, 80 and 11 yards. Mo-
ran's only tally came early in the
first quarter when fullback James
Shelton plunged two yards for the
score.
• Moran was held for downs three
different times within the O'Brien
three yard line; therefore, Moran
had five penetrations to O'Brien's
two.
Fullback James Shelton racked
up 81 yards rushing on 17 car-
ries, and Kenneth Williams had
46 yards on ten carries. Wil-
liams caught six passes for 64
yards, end Houston Connally
caught one pass for 40
yards, and Shelton caught one
pass for ten yards. Shelton com-
pleted six out of 11 passes, while
quarterback Danny Stephens com-
pleted two for two.
Also for Moran Tommy Brooks,
Jerry Thomas, Joe Parker and
Sidney Collinsworth did fine jobs
on defense.
Mornn has an open date this
week, but next week they travel
to Weinert. Weinert has won 35
games in a row, and a good game
is expected.
