RECEPTION
AT DORMITORY
Everybody Invited.
On next Tuesday evening, be-
ginning at eight-thirty, there
will be a reception at the Dorm-
itory to celebrate its opening.
There will be an informal mus-
ical and oratorical program ren-
dered. Refreshments will be
served in the spacious dormitory
dining room. The occasion will
be as informal as it can be made.
The object is to let you see this
elegant and useful building,
which you have erected to the
advancement of education in Al-
bany and west TexaV and to
show the appreciation that the
Board of Trustees and faculty
feel for same. Another object
of the reception is to give you an
opportunity to help furnish the
dining room, kitchen, and bowls
and pitchers for the bed rooms.
You are urgently invited to come
and bring something that will
be of use in a dining room of
eight tables. You may send
your gifts up anytime.

After an absence of some
weeks, will again send some

Cotton picking is the order of
the day now.
Curtis Morgan is on the sick
list.
The Baptist people closed a
meeting a week ago Sunday.
Rev. Lamb and Rev. Comalander
did the preaching and Mr. Os-
borne of Eddy, Texas, led the
singing.
Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Owens of
Moran visited Mr.' and Mrs. W.
A. Carter Sunday.
Miss Mary Jones has returned
from a visit to Celeste, Texas.
Mrs. A. W. Reynolds of Al-
bany visited her sister, Mrs. W.
A. Carter last week.
Miss Susie Broadfoot of Clyde
is visiting her uncle, Mr. R. L.
Broadfoot.
The Christian meeting closed
Sunday night. There were eight
baptised. Rev. Cole Jackson did
the preaching.
The Misses Howell of Cisco
visited Mr. and Mrs. Broadfoot
last week.
Mrs. M. A. Hall and children
visited in Dublin this week.
Mrs. Green and children- of
Moran visited Mr. McCollum and
family Sunday.—Carnation.
Albany Public School
Opens September 12.
On Monday, September 12,
the Albany Public School will
open its regular session in the
new school building. A faculty
of six teachers is employed and
a good school year is anticipated.
The School Board regrets that
the contractors gave up the work
and left the bondsmen responsi-
ble. The School Board has com-
pleted the building with a few
exceptions in the way of screen-
ing windows, etc. The bonds-
men, F. B. Reynolds and Tod
Richards of Throckmorton, failed
to meet their obligatiins, and j
have been sued by the Board. '
The Board is ably represented by |
Judge W. Poindexter of Cle-'
burne, Judge A. L. Allen of Al-
bany, and Judgd Jack Wright of
Throckmorton.

Everyone seemed to be in ex-
cellent spirits and the occasion
was one of pleasantness. Mr.
Muse is a well established far-
mer and ranchman of the New-
comb settlement and an old citi-
zen of the county. Miss Sher-
rard has lately cpme to this
county with her mother and
brother, W. E. Sherrard, from
their home at Mt. Calm. Mr.
Muse like the far-seeing man
that he is, has made all neces-
sary preparation for their home
on his ranch. Their friends and
relatives wish them much pros-
perity and happiness.
Mr. Ehy Wolf of Archer coun-
ty, a former citizen of Albany,
was in the city a few days this
week.
Sherrard-Muse.
Despite the hot and dry weath-
er the nuptial bells have not
ceased ringing. Last Sunday
afternoon at the home of the
brides mother, Mrs. Jessie Sher-
rard, Miss Mary Louise Sherrard
and Mr. W. E. Muse were united
in marriage. The wedding was
a very quiet one, there being few
present except the relatives of
the two families. Rev. J. H.
Chambliss spoke the works that
united the happy couple. After
the marriage those present were
invitdd to the dining room where

JVIr. and Mrs. Wayne McGil-
vary left Tuesday for their for-
mer home in Mississippi.
Mrs. Catstleberry visited her
sister, Mrs. Randolph, in Moran
last week to help care for her
little daughter, who is ill with
typhoid fever.
Shaffer Home and Nathan
Sherrard visited at Sedwick
Thursday night.
The prayer meeting at Fairview
is being largely attended every
Sunday evening and considerable
interest is being manifested.
Everybody come to the sing-
ing convention which meets at
Greer Grove Sunday.
The young people of this com-
munity enjoyed a very pleasant
entertainment at Mr. and Mrs.
Bradfords last Thursday eve-

CHRISTIAN CHURCH
CALLS PASTOR
Rev Boyts of Anson, pastor of
the Christian church there,
preached at the Christian church
in Albany Sunday. This was
Rev. Boyts' second visit to Al-
bany. Rev. J. S. Zeran, pastor
of the Stamford Christian church,
who had been giving the Albany
church one Sunday per month,
could not well continue this ser-
vice. Therefore the church call-
ed Rev. Boyts for one Sunday
per month, which will be the
fourth. "Rev. Boyts is a young
man«and has been preaching only
a short time. He was formerly
a teacher, having been instructor
in the Valparaiso Normal, Val-
paraiso, Indiana, one of the larg-
est institutions of learning in the
United States. The Christian
church feels very much congrat-
ulated on obtaining the services
of Rev. Boyts and believes that
it will be greatly benefited,
Theme for Next Sunday.
As Monday, September 5, is
Labor Day, I will select as my
theme for Sunday the 4th, at 11
a. m., "The Dignity of Labor."
All are invited to attend.
