It is very probable that feed will bo
cheap in this section this fall and
winter, at least the price for grain
will be lower than in past years, this
will be a good opportunity for every
one to feed a pig or two and save the
big expence of buying lard and bacon
the coming year.
R. N. Melton of Corsieana, Texas,
father of our townsman .las. Melton,

RAIL ROAD PARTY.
Col. Charles Hamilton, Vice Prest.
Texas Central Rail Road Company,
sent a Pass for Downes Marshall (who
is visiting Gray Webb) and the Rey-
nolds children and Connection to
make an excursion down to the beau-
tiful City of Dublin. Last Saturday
about 25 young girls and boys, Chap-
eroned by Mrs. Glen Reynolds,boarded
the train and started for Dublin, and
with Conductor Murry's watchful eye
over the entire party, they made the
trip without accident, returning on the
up coming train the same day. They
all report a splendid time, and were
unanimous in their thanks to Col.
Hamilton for the pleasure he was in-
strumental in affording them. Such
rememberanee extended to the young
is not soon forgotten, and Col. Ham-
ilton will be remembered by all in
the party.

Chajges were prefered agai nst Ed
Courtney by J. W. Eaheart yesterday
morning for "Assault with intenl to
murder." It seems these two gentle-
men had some words over the repair-
ing of some fence, when Mi. Courtney
drew a pistol which discharged, the
ball striking the ground about half
o o
way between the two men tvho were
about twenty feet apart. An examin-
ing trial before Justice Boughter with
P9 B
A A. Clarke as counsel for the defend-
ant and County Attorney Warren for
the state, consumed the
greater part of yesterday and Mr.
Courtney was bound over for his ap-
pearance before the grand jury in the
sum of $150.00. The bond was made
and the defendant released.
