CORRESPONDENCE
Snalum News.
Your correspondent hitched up
that mule last week with twelve
more to undergo the sentence
imposed on him for damaging
school house property. Old Set-
tler put a bushel and a half of
wheat on his shoulder and start-
ed off with big strides to keep
that mule busy, and up to the
present time the mule has gotten
the best of it The skin on your
correspondent's shoulders and
heels is all rubbed off carrying
that wheat and trying to keep
ahead, and is just able to crawl
to the house at night, while that
cussed mule is still going with
head and tail up. in the air and
ready at a moment's notice to
kick the driver off the plow seat,
and as yet we see no fence
around the school house and no
money in sight either.
Say Bachelor Girl you had bet-
ter come and visit us and we will
give you a good dinner and show
you the dividing lines between
Snalum and Newcomb so you
will not get mixed up whenever
your friends visit either of our
communities.
Lum Green has renewed his
contract with Major Webb for
another year, also August Noach
will be a new member of our
community as he has rented a
farm from Major Webb.
Four new members were en-
rolled in the Farmer's Union at
our last meeting.
Mrs. Baker and family visited
Jack Crabtree and wife this
week.
Ellis Richardson has gone to
Virginia with a view of bringing
back some fine draft horses to
this country.
A number of young people
from Newcomb were at Snalum
Sunday evening to hear Rev.
Berry of Delta county preach at
the school house.
Walter Holford has rented from
Mr. Bradford for another year.
Mr. Carrol has closed a trade
with L. H. Huskey to work and
improve his farm for the. next
three years.
S. Webb, Jess Reynolds, H. C.
Arendt and Hadley Robert had a
car load of seed wheat unloaded
the other day and are planting
the same right away so as to get
the benefit of an early pasture.
A large crowd of young people
attended singing at Jack Cook's
Sunday night.
Mrs. Miles and baby have
moved to town.
Mr. Green and family attend-
ed the wedding of Miss Hallie
Dyess of Snalum and Mr. Cock-
rell of Brownsboro at the Browns-
boro school house. Mr. Green
reports a fine time, and although
not being acquainted with either
of the happy young couple, yet
congratulate them on behalf of
all in our community, and hope
that their future life may be
forever as happy and joyous as
it was the day they were united
in holy matrimony.
Old Settler.
Sedwick Items.
The writer is pleased to give
the happenings in and around our
little village, Sedwick, which is
known far and near to be located
on the T. C. railroad between
Albany and Moran, on Albany
and Cisco road 11 miles from Al-
bany and 5 miles from Moran,
and is one of the richest belts of
land in Shackelford county.
We have a nice school building
and money to give us a six
months school. We have meet-
ing three times a month, a good
store building, though not occu-
pied at present, but probably
will be soon, a postoffice where
people can get their mail at all
hours of the day. Our train ser-
vice is as good as at any other
flag station, and our passenger
traffic would be a surprise to one
that never was here. We have
a good gin that is equal to any in
the county, we can gin 40 bales
per day and give you a better
turnout than you can get any-
where, and in connection with
the gin we have a water works
system that brings us fresh
water from Hubbard, the noted
stream of Shackelford county.
Our gin pipe line is owned by A.
F. Wielan and T. T. Morgan.
Would be glad to welcome any
one into our little village.
Wielan & Morgan are building
a large tank to store water fn
when pumped from the creek,
which is being built of brick and
cement.
The rain in our locality the
past week was quite an advant-
age to the growing crops, both
feed stuff and cotton.
Mr. English and family, Mr.
Terry and family, took dinner
with W. C. Owens and family
on last Sunday.
There are many wise assertions
and many good assertions, but of
all the assertions we ever heard
it was made by a party at the
dinner table last Sunday, and it
was this, that a man could now
marry without a license, that
these modern air ships were get-
ting so common and so perfect
that a man could get his girl and
go out of the U. S. in one of
these air ships. But the trouble
of this is that the parachute
might not open.
Miss Ollie Pool and Miss Geo-
gia English are attending school
at Albany. We wish them much
success.
Mrs. Mabel Carter is visiting
her parents in Albany.
We hear it rumored that there
will be a weeding at Bethel—
wonder if they have license or
not?
If this is not thrown in the
waste basket I will write more
next time. A Friend.
The Road to Success
has many obstructions, but none
so desperate as poor health. Suc-
cess to-day demands health, but
Electric Bitters is the greatest
health builder the world has ever
known. It compels perfect ac-
tion of stomach, liver, kidneys,
bowels, purifies and" enriches the
blood, and tones and invigorates
the whole system. Vigorous
body and keen brain follow their
use. You can't afford to slight
Electric Bitters if weak, run-
down or sickly. Only 50c. Guar-
anteed by G. L. Gregg.
