420 voting delegates from every
part of Texas with some 200 or

A part of the report as given
by the women follows
Most of the women reached
Beaumont on the afternoon of
i cpt 2 and were entertained that
night with an informal reception
given by the homo demonstration
clubs of Jefferson county Wednesday
morning was devoted to
board and committee meetings
The credentials committee met
early and was instructed as to
method of registration The resolutions
rules of convention and
nominating committees also met
at this time The delegates registered
promptly and many of them
rfelt that there was not enough
lor them to do This and the fact
that they wanted an opportunity
to discuss in jimall groups the

and resolutions The credential
committee reported and
the nominating committee made
its report and recommended that
the names of all candidates who
had been properly endorsed be
placed on the ballot
Although it rained all day after
the afternoon session the women
made trips in buses and private
cars to various places of interest
in and around Beaumont
IVIost of them went down to Port
Arthur and a good many went to
Orange and across into Louisiana
Tlie Swisher County women had
the wife of a rice grower as guide
and learned many interesting
things in regard to the growing of
rice

The Tulia Literary Arts club
spent last Thursday afternoon in
the sewing room Six members
were present each putting in

hours for the club The Unity
Study club came to the sewing
room Tuesday of tills week and

have been visited by the agriculture
men and potato growers
they will have a mass meeting in
the Swisher County courthouse
and will invite many authorities
and growers who have had experience
with growing potatoes
to talk at this gathering These
men will consist of growers from
the neighboring counties as well
as local growers and extension
service men who arc authorities
on the culture of this crop
Following the meetings in the
rural communities a committee
will follow up to talk to the farm

Businessmen and farmers who
attended the meeting believe that
as soon as they have a reasonable
amount of potato acreage pledged
they will be in position to interest
potato men in coming to Swisher
county and installing the necessary
facilities to process and market
the potato crop after it is
harvested They arc also of the
opinion that it will Interest growers
from other potato growing
sections to come to Swisher county
and buy land to raise this crop
