MD Anderson.
The festivities will begin with

"The volunteers working on the
CureFest project are becoming

to raise more money to benefit the
amazing doctors researching a cure
for cancer at MD Anderson," says
Misty Baumann, event coordinator.
"Proceeds from this and other
CureFest events have contributed
over $150,000 to research in 2012.
Join us on 12-12-12 and help Golf for
a Cure!"
A history of the CureFest
Fundraising Group:
On September 1, 2011, Phil
Baumann (of Baumann Paint & Body)
was diagnosed with a brain cancer
called Glioblastoma Multiforme,
Grade 4. A Glioma is the main group
of brain tumors, occurring in 65% of
brain tumors.
They were devastated. They have a
9 year old son, Colby who is in 4th
grade. After 2 surgeries in 7 months,
they are desperately putting their faith
in God and the research team at MD
Anderson in hopes they find a cure.
About 17,000 people are diagnosed
with cancer that began in or next to
the brain every year in the United
States. Glioblastoma multiforme is
the most common and most
malignant primary tumor of the brain
and associated with one of the worst
5-year survival rates among all
human cancers. Nevertheless, a
small fraction of glioblastoma patients
survive for more than 36 months.
These patients are referred to as
long-term survivors. They want to
increase these statistics and put more
money into research and help find a
CURE for Phil and all others.
They started this effort by putting
together a Fundraiser on July 28th
2012 at the Humble Civic Arena in
Humble, Texas. All proceeds went to
The Brain Cancer Research Team at
MD Anderson Hospital in Houston,
Texas. This fun filled music and family
festival grew quickly and included fun
for the whole family. From live music,
face painting, LIVE Auction, silent
auction, obstacle courses, slides,
popcorn, cotton candy, appearances
from local athletes and much more.
Outlaw Dave broadcast live from the
event and 9 local bands filled the day
with music culminating with NBC s
The Voice Winner Javier Colon.
The proceeds from CureFest this
year have exceeded $150,000. It has
helped to reopen a clinical trial that
gives hope to families fighting through
this awful disease. Phil Baumann
received this treatment and his tumor
is shrinking. The doctors at MD
Anderson have made great strides
and are treating brain cancer with
revolutionary treatments that are both
extending life and giving families
hope that was previously non-
existent.
lease Give.
In the world of cancer, money equals
research, research equals treatments
and cures. Please reach into your
heart (and your wallet) to donate
whatever amount you can. You can
donate silent and live auction items;
you can use your credit card to
donate from www.CureFest.com: you
can volunteer to help at the event.
The friends and family of Phil
Baumann welcome and need your
support.
