day.
Through Christ all life takes on
r hollowed glow, new and signifi-
cant meaning. Sin is the principal
thing wrong today and he died on
the cross to cancel its power—all
who believe can pass from bond-
age to Freedom.
Scripture: "For God so loved
the world he gave his only be-
gotten Son that whosoever be-
lieveth in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life" John 3-16.—

County Federation
To Meet In Blessing
The Matagorda County Federa-
tion of IWwmen's Clubs will have
it's 40th Birthday Party April 14,
1950, at the home of Mrs. A. B.
Pierce, Blessing. An "lOpen House"
invitation is now extended to the
general public from 4 to 6 p.m.
The "Seated Tea" and program
will begin at 2:00 p.m. At this
time all past presidents and char-
ter club members of the Federa-
tion will be honored. To all who
cannot attend at this hour, the
president Mrs. Richard C. Gusman
and Mrs. Pierce, wish the public
to know they will be most welcome
to join the celebration at anytime
between the hours of 4 to 6 o'clock.
A special emphasis is being placed
on the fact that the gentlemen will
be most welcome. Mrs. Pierce says,
"the husbands have surely had a
major part in the success of this
organization, and we will surely
'feel it a privilege to have them
attend."
The afternoon of April 14, 1956,
should find ail roads leading to the
home of Mrs. A. B. Pierce, Bless-
ing, Texas, the site where 40 years
ago found a group of generous
young women; who wished to
bring about a closer relation with
one another, by organizing a club
that would help to promote the
welfare of the county, through the
cultural and civic clubs of the
community. This organization is
now one of the oldest County Fed-
erations in the State of Texas, and
is credited with many worth while
projects throughout the years.

Youth Club Draws Larger Crowd;
We're Chasm' Rusllahs Today, Folks
By PAT & CO.
Today is Western Day! iWe won't
know the results of the contests
by the time you read this, but we'll
write it up next week, O.K.? The
only cloud on these here wild and
wooly festivities is the track meet
at Angleton which took some of
our cowpokes away for the after-
noon and most of the night. Oh,
well, we'll just pretend they're
out on a round-up or chasin' rust-
lers, pardnuh.
Joan's mad at Paul and we
know why! If you don't, ask one
of them, (preferably J.)
We hear Elwin got blocked in
one night, last week. How long did
it take you to move all that stuff,
boy ?
Saw J. A. Tuesday at noon with
no shoes on! Who does she think
she is, the Barefoot Contessa?
Everybody who saw James Sun-
day afternoon did a double-take.
That was Pat Steele, kids, not
Bonnie Sue!
Prescription for Coach K.—no-
doze pills (or cut out the fishing).
What's this we hear about Diana
and smoking saxophones? Sounds
a little odd, no ? yes
!Wie wish Lacey wouldn't tell
everyone all about his wild dreams.
See what you can do about that,
Becky.
The Youth Club met Friday in-
stead of Saturday night because
of the Victoria track meet sched-
uled for Saturday (we presume).
There was a bigger crowd than
usual and we all had lots of fun.
Betty Jane kept winning Chinese
Checker games, Jack was jitter-
bugging, Billie made fans, and of
course Ted drew shrimp boats.
Just a general idea of what goes
on, ya know.
Kay King And Norma
Wilson To Be Married
Saturday, March 31
Mr. and Mrs. Byron W. King re-
quest the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter,
Kay, to Norma Wilson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Wilson of Comanche,
Texas, on Saturday, March 31, at
7:30 p.m. in the First Methodist
Church of Palacios, and to the
reception at Weimer Hall im-
mediately following the ceremony.
Invitations are being issued by
press only.
The next time you see Jake and/
or Joe ask them to take you on a
guided tour of a certain hot-rod.
Poor Marvin (Buddy) has had
both his knees broken since foot-
ball season and didn't even know
it till about Saturday!
Last week's question: What's
the newest steady couple in high
school? Karen and Lannie, of
course. But they don't want any-
one to know it.
Say! We don't want anybody to
come to school Friday—it's a holi-
day. (As if the whole school didn't
know).
Please—no more dirty words in
Bible Class—such as "Shut-up."
The Freshman song is "I'll Be
Home" and their colors pink and
gray. Their motto, courtesy of
Cyril (Cuddles) Carvin is "Out of
the Harbor into Deeper Channels."
Where was Miss Sanford Sun-
day night?
Question of the week: Will Lynn
make a touchdown? (No, we're not
crazy. Look 'for our answer next
week. Same paper, same page,
same column.)
Happy Easter, you all!
Marilyn Johnson

Johnson of Palacios, was named

lege of Arts and Sciences fall
semester honor roll this week.
Miss Johnson was named on the
Ampla Cum Laude roll, announced
by Dean L. L. Click-
Mrs. Fred Thurmond of Houston

er Mrs. J. H. Simpson.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.—Hebrews 13:S
The eternal love of Christ for His people
extends even to us this day. We should
be grateful from the bottom of our heart
for the great sacrifice He made for us.
