BRISTER MARRIED HERE SATURDAY
Miss Marilyn Clarice Milam,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
Milam, and L. J. Brister, son of
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Brister, repeat-
ed their marriage vows in an im-
pressive ceremony in the First
Presbyterian Church Saturday
evening, at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 3.
The sanctuary was decorated
with baskets filled with bridal
white gladioli and chrysanthe-
mums. The glow of the white
tapers in branched candelabra re-
vealed the lovely setting for the
double ring ceremony performed
by the Rev. John Brannon.
A program of nuptial music was
presented by Mrs. C. W. Crawford,
organist, who accompanied Miss
Elizabeth Scott, as she sang "Be-
cause" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The candles were lighted by the
bride's sister, Cheryl Milam.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er, the bride wor^ a ballet length
gown of crystal white Chantilly
lace over taffeta. The pointed fit-
ted bodice was styded with a scoop
neckline accented with re-em-
broidered lace and long sleeves
that ended in petal points over the
hands. Her fingertip veil of silk
illusion cascaded from a tiara of
seed pearls and she carried a bou-
quet of white carnations.
Miss Nellie Thompson, the
bride's only attendant, wore a bal-
let length gown of blue crystaline
over taffeta and carried a bouquet
of blue carnations.
Shelton Brister of Houston
served as best man and the ushera
were James Milam and Stanley
Wright.
Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held in the Fellowship
Hall of the church. The bride'-_
table spread with a beautiful white
linen cut work cloth centered with
the bride's bouquet, held the tiered
wedding cake and punch servicb.
Refreshments were served by Misa
Willie Reitz, Mrs. James Milam
and Mrs. Billy Hamlin. Mrs. James
Penland registered the guests.
After a short wedding trip, the
couple will make their home in
Abilene, where he is stationed with
the Air Force.

the wedding of Miss Marilyn Milam
to L. J. Brister were Mrs. L. J.
Chaddock of Victoria; Mr. and
Mrs. H. G. Crozier, Gerry, Kerry

Oil Workers Return To San Antonio;

Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Mobley and
children, Mr. and Mrs. George
Bradford and children, Jean Gar-
ner and A1 Bentz, who have been
living in Blessing for several
weeks working on one of the oil
wells that was being drilled near
Blessing, have all returned to San
Antonio.
Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Rickaway
took Mrs. Elizabeth Herreth to
Wharton on Sunday afternoon to
see her father, Alex G'avender,
Sr. who is recovering from a re-
cent illness.
Mrs. A. R. Matthes spent two
days in Houston, with her son Dr.
Fred Matthes and family. Dr. and
Mrs. Matthes went to Sugar Land
on Friday night to the Tidehaven-
Sugar Land football game. Arthur
Matthes met them there and went
to Houston, and brought Mrs.
Matthes home on Saturday. *
Willie Henkes who has been in
the Matagorda General Hospital,
Bay City, following an automobile
accident two weeks ago has been
removed to John Sealy Hospital,
Galveston, for special treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Powell spent
Sunday in Ganado. Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Foster and Mr. and Mrs.
Abner Ussery visited friends in
Columbus, Sunday
Lee Hall Pierce was home from
Kerrville over the week-end visit-
ing with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Lee Pierce, and his grand mother,
Mrs. A. B. Pierce, and great grand
mother Mrs. Lee Hall.
Mrs. Earl Kahla made a busi-
ness trip to Palacios Monday morn-
ing.
Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Bauman had
as their guests his brother Mr. and
Mrs. Maxie Bauman and family
from Kerrville, Texas.
Arthur Foster made a business
trip to El Campo Saturday after-
noon.
Pfc. Johnnie B. Swinky, of Fort
Polk, Louisiana, is spending a 'five
day leave from the army with his
mother Mrs. John Swinky. Johnnie
arrived home Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Vacek, Sr.
and son E. R. Vacek, Jr. visited
with Mrs. Vacek's sister and fam-
ily Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vavrecka
of Sugarland after attending the
football game between Tidehaven
and Sugar "Land Friday night.
Mrs. L. E. McCullough of Alto,
Texas is visiting with her * niece
Mrs. H. T. Walters. Mrs. Walters
and Mrs. McCullough attended the
State Baptist Convention Tuesday
in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mrs. John Swinky and children
spent Sunday with her daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Vavra and
family at El Maton.

Holds Covered Dish
Supper, October 27
The Prairie Center Club had a
covered dish supper at the club
house on October 27. After enjoy-
ing a delicious meal, Canasta and
42 were played.
Those enjoying the hospitality
