Colored School Seniors
Moke Trip To Mexico
G'. H. Sanford principal of the
Colored School chartered a Mis-
souri Pacific Bus to carry his
senior class to Mexico. They re-
port an enjoyable time.
A study was made of the cultur-
al and physical environments of
Mexico. The students visited the
pchools and Civic centers, and
wrote themes comparing the cul-
ture of Mexico with that of Texas.
It was an inspiring trip as well
as an educational tour.

COLLEGEPORT PRESBYTERIAN.
GROUND BREAKING SERVICES
FOR NEW SANCTUARY ARE HELD
The First Presbyterian Church
of Collegeport had a very interest-
ing and impressive program led
by the elders of their church pre-
ceding the Ground Breaking Cere-
mony on the site of their new
sanctuary, Sunday, May 22.
C. J. Williams was acting mod-
erator; Gerald Wells, Sr. read' the
scripture; E. A. Mixon led the
morning prayer; R. L. Corporon
reported on Our Church Yester-
day; W. L. Ellis on Our Church
Today; Dean E. Merck on Our
Church Building Program. Gerald
Wells, Jr. led the Responsive Read-
ing and Miss Joy Corporon and
Roy Corporon played and sang
"Ivory Palaces" accompanied by
their mother, Mrs. R. L. Corporon.
When the congregation left the
church, Dean E. Merck, chairman
of the Church Building Program,
asked everyone to step into the
new sanctuary site (just north of
the present one) which had been
outlined with white ribbons for the
Ground' Breaking Ceremony.
Mrs. Hugo Kundinger (nee Hat-
tie Haisley) the only charter mem-
ber present from the First Church
of Collegeport Federated, turned
the first shovel of dirt; she was
succeeded by two more of our
pioneer women, Mrs. Roy Nelson
and Mrs. Gust Franzen, Sr. The
following gave inspiring pledges
as they turned the shovel; C. J.
Williams representing the church;
Mrs. Gustave Franzen, Jr. the Wo-
man's Union; Jack Perciville, the
Sunday School and Miss Virginia
Wells, the youth of the church.
Gustave Franzen gave the Dedi-
catory Prayer and Mr. Merck
quoted Luke 10:62 "No man,
having put his hand to the plough
and looking back, is fit for the
kingdom of God1." Then all joined
hands and stepped to the outline
of the new sanctuary and sang
"Blest Be the Tie" before repeat-
ng the Mizpah.
Miss Constance Law registered
66 members and friends who were
present for this great occasion.
