Clean up Days. With three
days of the time elapsed,
interested citizens are in
volving their efforts and
energy toward a unified
campaign.
Commenting that
"some of us are constant
ly into cleanup and work
at it on a daily basis,"
Albany Chamber of Com
merce manager, Betty
Law, admits that "right
now, a concentrated ef
fort is a must." A few peo
pie just cannot do it all,
she said. "We need the
cooperation of everyone."

the subject of the cam

Board of Directors for the
Shackelford County Tax
Appraisal District, accor
ding to Chief Appraiser
Betty Viertel.

To Prairie Theater This Week

Foundation Pouring Marks Beginning
Of 'Old Jail' Fund-Raising Campaign
Members of the Board
of Directors of the Old
Tail Foundation along
with directors of the
Albany Chamber of Com
merce met last week to
observe Ihe pouring of
the foundation as part of
the renovation of the old
historic Shackelford
County jail.
The remodeled facility
will serve as a museum in
which will he displayed
several important collec
tions of art, according to
the directors of the Foun
dation.
"The starting of con
struction marks the he
ginning of our local cam
paign to raise funds," said
director, Mrs. C. E
Jacobs "There has been
enough money donated by
other states and cities to
start the project, but
more will be needed to
complete it."
The remodeling plans
call for t he complete
renovation of original
building and the addi
tional sp'ace behind the
present building The new
addition will house a
meeting room, office
space and rest rooms.
Art secured by the
museum includes a rare
collection of tomb pieces
from the Han and Tang
Dynasties of China, a col
lection of Chinese porce
lains, a small group of
19th and 20th century
European paintings and
drawings, and two expen
sive collections of contem
porary American Art
Also to be housed in the
museum, are three large
libraries of art and art
history
According to a bro
chure published by the
Foundation the new cen
ter will be an important
educational tool for
students of art and art
history. Internship pro
grams are being planned
with the three Abilene
colleges for students
seeking careers in Muse
um Curators, Research
Librarian Bibliographers
and Cultural Project

Fandangle Ticket Sales Open
To General Public Monday
Mrs. Patsy' Rose,
secretary of the Fan
dangle Association and
chairman of ticket sales,
announced Monday that
all membership orders of
tickets are ready to be
picked up at any time con
venient to the buyer The
Fandangle office, located
in Rockwell Community
Center, is open from 9:00
to 5:00, Monday through
Friday of each week
"Sales to Ihe general
public opened toda> she
continued, and they are
going real well, especially
on the Saturday ticket
sales But we have lots of
tickets.''
When asked about
group ticket sales at
reduced prices Mrs Rose
stated that the special
prices are still in force,
for Thursday and Friday
nights only. "Friday night
sales are going good

purchased by phone or
mail and, if desired, will
he held until the day of
the performance when
