Skeleton Identification
Not Positive, Says Riley
Positive identification of a
skeleton found in Stephens t'oun'
ty at I.ake Hubbard some six
weeks ago remains unsolved, said
Sheriff Ben j Riley Monday
Reports appeared in the
Breckvnr\dge American iast
week to the effect that positive
identification of the skeleton as
that of Mrs. Nettie Mae Cooper
had been made
Mrs. Cooper is one of three per
sons missing since the Albany
flood of August 3, 197b. The other
two are Loy and Jane Key.
Sheriff Riley said that when he
heard the newspaper story he
went to Breckenridge to talk with
Sheriff l.ouie Hall about the mat
ter, but was unable to get in touch
with him ;
He then called the Department
of Forensic Science in Dallas for
verification of the story. "I talked
with an assistant"in the office of
Dr. Charles Petty," he told a re
porter at the \'eus. "The assis
tant said that without dental re
cords of the skeleton there can be
no positive, conclusive identifica
tion." An upper dental plate was
found beside the skeleton.
Riley is attempting to locate
the proper dental plate records.
No further information was
available at press time.
