Dear I'riepds:
Please find enclosed check for
$2,00 for which please give me
credit on my subscription. I
think I must be a year in the
"lied" by now, but I have just
neglected It from time to time,
I see you people are trying to get
some good re ads, which is a good
I move, for I used to think that if
1 there ever was a county that
needed road work, that county
di'J. I paid a rriari there to work
five dayn in my place, and the
only "tool" he took was a "shot-
jgun," but that was a good while
ago, maybe they have Improved
their method by now.
We are doing fine here making
lots of lumber and don't have to
worry about dry weather or boll
weevils, got three "squares" a
| day and sleep iri the name place
every night.
With best wishes for the Ban-
ner and all friends, I remain,
Your friend,
GKO. BAKKLKY.

Texai Commercial Conireu,
The third annual convention
of the Texas Industrial Congress
will be held at Dallas Wednes-
day, Dec. 20th. From all points
101 mills distant a rate of one
and a fifth fare has been granted.
The $10,000 in prizes offered
by the Congress for the best
yields of corn arid cotton will be
awarded at the convention. It
is not yet known, of course, who
the winners of the prize* will be,
as all of the reports arc riot yet |
in, but many of the contestant*
have secured very gratifying
yields. Some of them have pro-
duced over 100 bushels'of corn
and others as much as 2k bales
of cotton per acre. Fifty of the
leading contestants to date have
ari average of 404 bushels of}
corn and 14 bales of cotton per.
acre. The average yield of corn j
in the state past year is a little
more than 10 bushels per acre.

Brown of Muscadine, Ala., "if It
had not been for Dr. King's New
Discovery. She was down in her
bed, not able to get up without
help. She had a severe bronchial
trouble and a dreadful cough. I
got her a bottle of Dr. King's
Now Discovery and she soon be-
gan to mend, and was well in a
short time," Infallible for cough*

One of the most important hap-
penings in town last week re-
ceived no mention in the paper,
arid that was the fine boy which
the stork brought Mr. and Mr*.
J. T. St. Clair. Of course he »*
a fine boy all right, but it looks
like our commissioner is a little
too much puffed up about it.
When you have a bilious attack
give Chamberlain's Tablets a
trial. They are excellent. Fer
sale by all dealers.
J. T, Kizer, mighty good citi-
zen of Bed Springs, is a new
reader of the Banner. We truat
he arid the Banner both will
profit by the arrangement.
