That is, he will if you are willing.
We speak of Mr. M. O. Tucker of
Hod Springs, who offer* for that pos

Mr. Tucker is the son of Mr. \.
Tucker of Bed Kpring*, and that, is
enough to give him a pretty good in-
troduction. However, he dee* not
intend making his race on hia father's
qualifications, and wishe* the voter to
vote ye* or no on his own merits.
The candidate ha* been in Baylor
county 21 year*. He married here and
ha* no desire to live elsewhere. He
does not think the world owes him a
living, just boenuso ho ba* aa arm

opportunity of making hi* living fair-

up tho fact that be waa overseas in
the world war. He was In the Bain-

county voter* should wipport him.
Mr. Tucker wa* a student In the

work he waa taking, and equipping
himself for the position of teacher.
He has decided to be tax assessor,

Capt. A. H. Hunt was floated City
Becorder at the meeting of th* CHy

| mean vary mueh to the man who doaa
' not know what wa aro talking about,
but we opine that it wilt not be very
long before tho majority of the town
will be acquainted with the work of
tho City Beeorder.
Heretofore there has been no record-
er and tho mayor has acted iu thi*
capacity. But the mayor has hia bunds
full, and be ahould not have responsi-
bility for this work. Hereafter it
will bo the duty of Capt. Hunt to aae
that ordinance* of the eity are en-
forced. Violations will be reported to
him, and before him the criminals will
bo tried. In other word* the fate of
us all will be in the hand* of Capt.
Hunt, and while he may do it cheer-
fully, he will likely make you toe the
mark. He knowa bow to do this, on
account of having been a captain in
tho army.
It ia not generally known that Capt.
Hunt waa in charge of martial law
in the city of Galveston during the
longshoremen's strike, What i* gen-

that he can handle the work right,
henco feel* no embarrassment in be-

should not be in hi* favor when the

you want to get in the way of a g.iod
