Mrs. E. G. Crabbe and Mrs. W. 11. Daiin-
wood were elected as delegate and alter-
nate to represent the club at the fifth dis-
trict meeting to be held In Lampasas dur-
ing April.
Mrs. W. W. Jones was hostess to the
Mondav Club at her home on South Broad-
way. There was a splendid attendance.
Mrs. ,T. J. Arthur was the club guest.
"Mexico" was the subject discussed. Mes-
dames E. A. Born and Frank Ring con-
tributed to the program with papers.
The Cosmos Club met Monday afternoon
with Mrs. W. C. Friedley as hostess. Mes-
dames C. B. Da vies and J. W. Mel son of
Concordia, Kan., were the elnb guests.
The program, which was on "The City of
Mexico," was led by Mrs. W. C. Stewart.
The next meeting will be with Mrs. Wil-
liam Bell.
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bowman Jr., accom-
panied by Mrs. W. R. Norton, Miss Dora
Bowman and Miss Lula Shands, the latter
of Houston, departed Tuesday via auto
for San Antonio. Miss Bowman and Miss
Shands will go to Georgetown from San
Antonio to resume their studies at South-
western T'niversity. Miss Shands had been

Members of the Yorktown Ladles* Civic Club at work in the city park at York town with spades, hoes, mowers and rakes. This movement was begun about a month
ago and all members of the Ladles' Civic Club were requested to spend the day til the park. Over forty responded. After cleaning the ground thoroughly, they planted
roses, flowers and trees. They placed the park In a most attractive condition. Their work deserves praise, since it is in line with the plan originated by the Governor
of Missouri and later endorsed by the Governor of our State.

tary; Mrs. C. A. Smith, treasurer; Mrs.
Louis Roemer, parliamentarian. After the
business of the day was completed the
guests were entertained with a musical
contest In which each one present was put
to a test as to their familiarity with our
old favorite songs. Refreshments were
served.

Mrs. R. H. McLeod entertained Satur-
day afternoon at a reception, with every
detail of the affair announcing spring-
time The home was decorated for the
occasion, and the affair was a very pleas-
ant one. Luncheon was served.
Tuesday evening at the country home
two miles from the city. Mr. and Mrs. Hub
Woodard and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Crist
celebrated their wedding anniversaries
with a reunion of old friends and rela-

embroidered pincushion. The dining room,
where refreshments were served, was pret-
tily decorated, the table carrying out the
chosen color tones of pink and white.
The Ladies' Aid of the Episcopal Church
met Friday at the home of Dr. and Mrs.
R. L. Combs, where donations were re-
ceived for the orphan box and the Easter
offering.
The bride of the week. Miss Elsie Tim-
mermann. was complimented Monday aft-
ernoon by Miss Valeska Starcke at her
home on Austin Street. The game of
hearts was played and In this Miss Win-
nie Lillard proved the winner, receiving
a cut glass vase. The honor guest was
presented with a handsome cut glass bowl.
The tally cards were of pretty design, the
decorations being wedding bells. In the
dining room a laundry basket was sus-
pended from the chandelier and when the
guests arrived pink carnations began fall-
ing from the basket onto a supply of linen
articles arranged on the table. All were
presented to the honor guest.
