Mrs. John Luck Dies

A message was received "here
iondjvy night by relatives that
Mrs. «Fobn H. Lack had passed
away at a Hospital in L^s Ange-
les, California, Monday evening
January 20ih., at 0 o'clock.
Sne took seriously ill suddenly
and hs.d to be taken to the Hos-
pital for an operation and passed
away there on the operating
table.
Mrs. Luck was before her
marriage Miss Margaret Stein
mann, daughter of Mrs. August
Steininann of Swiss Alps and
grew so young womanhood here
She was a wonderful christian
character^ was a devoted and
loving christian wife, mother,
daughter and slater. Mrs. Luck
was 44 years ef age.
The remains were laid to rest
in Los Angeles Wednesday morn-
ing. She is survived by her hus-
band, JohnH, Luck,three daugh-
ters, Jacqueline, Cleo and Bar-
bara Joyce, one son, J. D., her
aged mother, Mrs. August Stein-
mann, and a sister, Mrs. EgOD
Braniter, both of Swiss Alps,
also five other sisters and two
brothers. *

Sunday Ferd. Herzik's Buick
was hit on the highway here in
town by a man from San Anto
nio, who was driving too fast.
Herzik's car was damaged to
the extent of about $40. (The car
was driven by Marzeline Herzik.
Miss Tola had a cut on her finger
from the broken glass, no one
else was injured.
Marzeline was turning her car

Fine Holsteins Here
Ernst Russ^k shipped in a
bunch of fine Holstein cows, two
bulls and several Jersey cows.
Ernst stated be would guarantee
this stock to be as he said.
The best iu the lot is a Holstein
caw with a heifer calf, this cow
gives nine gallons of milk daily.
The other Holsteins now give
four to five gallons par day, a
calf was born to one of the cows
here this week, .several have
calvea, others will have in a few
days.
Anyone in the market would
do well to get one of these, if
they don't give the milk he says
they will, bring the cow back.
That's fair.
Stolen Gar Recovered
And TLief Arrested
Ouero, Tex., Jan., 21.—Cuero
officers will leave for Beaumont
within the next few days to re-
turn a new Chevrolet Coupe be-
longing to J. K. Elklns of Yoa-
kum, and a man charged with
the theft of the car from the
streets of Yoakum Friday.
The car was recovered in good
condition in Beaumont Saturday,
through the efforts of G.A,Lentz,
sheriff of DeWitt County, who
notified officers throughout the
state of the theft and asked that
a lookout be kept for the auto
and thief. The arrest followed in
Beaumont.
Kubash-Vacula
Edmund Kubash and Miss Lii-
lie Vacula were united in mar-
riage in Plum Monday, January
20ih. Father Kasper officiated.
The bride i9 one of the popular
young ladies of the Bridge Val-
ley section near LaGrange.
The groom is a barber by pro
fession and is employed h°re at
the Bill Miller Barber Shop. H-e
is the son of Euoil Kubasch of
Hostyn.Edmund has made many
friends here duriag his 3t^y in
Schulenburg.
The happy couple left after
the wedding for a brief honey-
moon tript after which they will
make their home here in th9 Jim
Ermis rent house.

friends in extending congratula-
tions and best wishes for a long
and happy wedded life.
Lady Accidentally
Drowns Here
Frank Muenster was operated
on for appendicitis at the St.
Rosa Hospital in San Antonio
the past week.

turned Wednesday from a motor

and a trip into Mexico.
H. P. and Robert Schaefer are
in Houston attending a Hardware

M. P. Wind of Houston is here
visiting his uncle,Bernard Wind,
and family.
Mrs. Louise Miesegaest, ajjed
about 70 years, accidentally fell
on the ice, which gave away, she
sank through into water about
two feet deep and drowned.
Deceased made her home here
with the John Mitchou family
the past ten years, this Thurs-
day just before noon she was
walking around on a road be-
tween their home aud Baumgar-
tens place. Shortly afterwards
she was missed and a search
made, she was fouud aud given
tvery aid, bat death had already
occurred.
Her husband died 30 years
ago, she had no children so the
Mitchons took care of her.
She is survived by two bro-
thers Adolph Hahnke of Schulen-
burg, Otto Hahuke of Weimar, a
half brother, Wm.Zuelner of Fla-
tonia, a half sister Mrs. Edmund
Otto of Weimar.
The body will be laid to rest in
the Cicy Cemetery Friday, Key-
0. F. Kattner officating.
