CHAPTER 1259 H.B. No. 585
1 AN ACT
2 relating to ad valorem taxation; creating an offense.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
4 SECTION 1. Section 1151.1581, Occupations Code, is amended
5 by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
6 (f) As part of the continuing education requirements for a
7 registered professional appraiser who is the chief appraiser of an
8 appraisal district, the commission by rule shall require the
9 registrant to complete:
10 (1) at least half of the required hours in a program
11 devoted to one or more of the topics listed in Section 1151.164(b);
12 and
13 (2) at least two of the required hours in a program of
14 professional ethics specific to the chief appraiser of an appraisal
15 district, including a program on the importance of maintaining the
16 independence of an appraisal office from political pressure.
17 SECTION 2. Section 5.041, Tax Code, is amended by adding
18 Subsection (b-l) and amending Subsections (e-2) and (f) to read as
19 follows:
20 (b-l) At the conclusion of a course established under
21 Subsection (a), each member of an appraisal review board in
22 attendance shall complete a statement, on a form prescribed by the
23 comptroller, indicating that the member will comply with the
24 requirements of this title in conducting hearings.
