Tommy Alverson and Brian
Burns will perform for the Feb.
3rd offering of Nocona Nights.
The performance will follow a
meal beginning at 6:30 p.m. at
the American Legion Hall on
West Hwy. 82 in Nocona.
Alverson and Burns are no
strangers to Nocona as both
have appeared numerous times
for Nocona Nights and other
functions throughout the years.
Brian Burns opened the Nocona
Nights Series with a perform-
ance in October of 2002. He

bring the two popular perform-
ers to the stage together. They
will perform an acoustic song
swap and will be guaranteed to
be a show that will entertain
each and eveiy member of the
audience.
This show is expected to sell
out and tickets can be obtained
by stopping by or calling the
Nocona Chamber of Commerce

Court to discuss groundwater d istrict
MONTAGUE - Thursday
the Montague County
Commissioners will consider
joining Wise, Parker and Hood
Counties in an effort to establish
a Groundwater Conservation
District for the upper recharge
zone of the Trinity Aquifer.
The court heard a presenta-
tion from Wise County officials
on the matter Monday, and
scheduled a second discussion
for today when Bowie City
Manager James Cantwell is
scheduled to bring some addi-
tional information to the court.
In other action, the court will
consider approving two road
crossings with 10-inch poly
pipes; and they will approval
payroll and pay bills.
The meeting will begin at 9
a.m. in the Commissioners
Courtroom on the second floor
of the courthouse.

Financial aid seminars set
Bowie — All area seniors
and their parents are being invit-
ed to a College Financial Aid
Information seminar.
The seminars, to be held
from 5:30-7 p.m. on Jan. 30th
and Feb. 6th, are being spon-
sored by Bowie High School,
but they are open to senior in
Montague County, said Patti
Morton Gibbs, Bowie High
School counselor.
The sessions will be held in
the Bowie High School Libraiy.
Representatives from area
college financial aid offices and
banking institutions will be on
hand to answer questions; par-
ticipants will also be able to
view a video presentation from
the FAFSA made easy program.
Attendees will receive infor-
mation about funding higher
education and have an oppor-
tunity to complete the FAFSA
online. Door prizes will be
drawn at the conclusion of the
sessions.
-POLICE BLOTTER-
A 10 year old boy was seri-
ously injured Jan. 15 when
attacked by the family dog.
Nocona General Hospital
reported the animal bite to the
Nocona Police Department
which is investigating. The ani-
mal had been vaccinated.
Shannon Gann, 35, was
arrested at 1227 Grayson St
after Officer Robert Boggess
was summoned to investigate a
family disturbance. Gann was
charged with public intoxication
and was transported to the
Montague County Jail.
Leeann Allsup reported the
burglary of a habitation on Jan.
18. Office Paul Casillas is inves-
tigating.
Bryan Gossett, 18, was
arrested by Sgt. Larry Hostetter
on outstanding warrants on Jan.
19. He was transported to the
County Jail.
Nancy Friesen, 18, was
arrested by Officer Boggess in
the 200 block of Montague
Highway after a traffic stop on
municipal warrants. She was
transported to the county jail.
Officers responded to 22
calls for service during the week
of Jan. 14-20. Six calls were for-
warded to Animal Control. And
there was one city call and one
9-1-1 call.
