You know it was Aunt
Bessie's kitchen utensil, but
you're not certain what it was.
Or what it is worth.
Well at Fun Fest May 17th
you will have an opportunity to
learn those tidbits of informa-
tion as well as lend a helping
hand with the creation of the
Montague County
Sesquicentennial Cookbook.
A booth will be set up
Saturday, May 17 where you
can bring your old kitchen uten-
sils, have them identified - if
you do not know what they were
used for - and have a valuation
given by an antique expert.
Additionally the Cookbook
Committee will take pictures of
unique, old, antique cooking
implements to be included in the
Sesquicentennial Cookbook to
be published later this year.

Sing] e race draws
heavy ear y vote
In person voting Saturday 7 to 7
By Tracy R. Mesler
With only one contested race
on Saturday's Nocona School
Board election, early voting
turnout has been surprisingly
strong.
Through mid-afternoon
Tuesday more than 200 votes
had been cast to either return
School Board President Pat
Keck for another three year term
on the board, or to replace her
with former NISD Supt. Harold
Reynolds.
The race pits two long-time
family names in what has been a
quiet, but apparently deeply felt
campaign. Both candidates live
on the Floosier Highway
(FM1956) just a couple of miles
from each other and just east of
Keck-Reynolds Road.
Early voting concluded at 7
Tuesday evening after two days
of 12 hours to vote - from 7 a.m.
to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
In person voting will take
place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 10, at Nocona
City Hall.
By state law all local election
sites have been combined when
school, hospital and water dis-
tricts are headquartered in a city,

In the first go round Saturday night at the 4th Annual Nocona Bull Fest it was Bulls 5, Cowboys 1, as only one bullrider managed
to stay atop the tough bucking stock to get a score — and a good score it was, 86, but not good enough to win. The Bullfest is co-
sponsored by the Nocona Rotary Club and the Nocona Chamber of Commerce's Rodeo Committee.

Skate park
working to
begin this
summer
By Tracy R. Mesler
By the end of the summer,
the Nocona Skate Park will
hopefully be taking shape on the
southwest corner of Enid Justin
City Park.
The city secured a $50,000
matching grant over a year ago
from the Texas Parks & Wildlife
Department to help finance the
park addition.
"We have to match with
$50,000 in labor and donations,"
explained Nocona City
Secretary Revell Hardison, who
is also a part president of the
Nocona Lion's Club which took
the lead in writing the grant, pre-
senting it and getting it
approved by the state.
"It won't be like Wichita
Falls' (park) where everything is
built in concrete," she described.
"These will be assembled pieces
where if you want to move them
around, you can reassembly
them or add pieces to it," she
said of the skate ramps, tubes
and other items.
The skate park will have a 75
by 30 foot concrete pad with the
skate equipment placed on top.
"I hope by the end of the
summer that we have our dirt
work done, our site prep done
and have our equipment
bought," Mrs. Hardison said.
"Then we'll have a late sum-
mer or early fall public work day
to assemble the smaller pieces,
