OLNEY The Indians
opened district against Olney on
Friday, March 7th. The Indians
were defeated in 7 innings by a
score of 5-4.
The Indians fell behind early
in the second inning but were
able to tie the score in the 3rd
inning, 3 to 3.
The Indians took the lead in
the 5th inning on a Travis
Nowell single to score one run.
Although Tyson Sandoval
pitch a great game, according to
Coach Danny Brittain, and
struck out 11 batters, the Indians
were not able to hold on in the
last two innings.
Olney scored one run in the
6th inning and one run in the 7th
inning. The loss put the Indians
at 0-1 in district and 7-4-1 over-
all.
Nowell and Remy Stewart
each stroked doubles for
Nocona, which came up with 6
hits but were unable to capital-
ize on Olney's 6 errors. Nowell
and Hunter Willard each went 2
for 4 at the plate for the Indians.
The Indians will play Alvord
at home on Tuesday, March
11th and be on the road on
Friday, March 14th at Henrietta.

CITY VIEW — The Lady
Indians Softball Team did not
have quite the start district
action they had hoped for when
they traveled to City View to
face the No. 14 ranked Lady
Mustangs.
The visiting Lady Indians fell
behind early due to some costly
mistakes, and City View's
pitcher Kayla Long made sure
that the Lady Indians never got
close. The final score found City
View an 11-1 winner.
The Lady Indians didn't do
too badly at the plate as they
managed 5 hits compared to
City View's 9. The difference
was the timing of the hits. The

Lady Indians never were able to
take full advantage of base run-
ners as they ended the game
leaving 6 runners stranded.
The lone run for the Lady
Indians came on a bunt from
Hanna Robertson with Kristyn
Weaver at third.
City View's Long fielded the
bunt and got Weaver in a run
down. During the rundown
Robertson was on her way to
second. City View's Monteil
Bruce came up throwing to sec-
ond after tagging Weaver out at
the plate trying to get the double
play when the throw knocked
off Robertson's helmet and sent
the ball to the outfield.
Robertson was able to run home
helmet less for Nocona's only
score of the game.
The Lady Indians were led
again offensively by senior
Kristyn Weaver who was 2 for 3
at the plate with one double and
one triple.

EorNHS athletes...
No break for spring
For Nocona High School ath-
letes there will not be much of a
"break" to Spring Break.
While their academic-only
classmates have a week off, the
calendar is littered with athletic
events.
The Junior High track meet
at Chico was moved to this
Friday - the official start of
Spring Break - after rain can-
celled the original state time.
That same day the Lady
Indians softball team plays at
Jacksboro starting at 5 p.m.
JV runs out of time 6-5
OLNEY — The Nocona
Lady Indians JV Softball Team
played their first game of the
year Friday March 7th against
Olney's JV.
The game was set up with a
one hour and ten minute time
limit game. That proved not to
be enough time for the young
Lady Indians as they fell to the
home team 6-5 in 4 innings of
action. The Lady Indians were
led defensively by Savannah
Smith in the pitcher's circle who
recorded 4 strikeouts in 4
innings. Cody Bussey had one
put out and two assists from her
third base position.
Bethany Morgan led the team
offensively as she went 1 for 2
with 2 runs scored.

Next Monday the Lady
Indians Golf team will host the
Nocona Investigational starting
at 7:30 a.m. at Indian Oaks Golf
Course in Nocona.
At 3 p.m. the girls' softball
team will host Holliday in a cru-
cial District 9AA encounter
starting at 3 p.m.
The Softball team returns to
the diamond at noon on
Tuesday, March 18, as the tribe
hosts Chico.
Then at 5 p.m. the boys'
baseball team plays host to City
View.
The boys return to action on
Thursday, March 20th, hosting
Jacksboro in a 5 p.m. encounter.
And some where in there, the
Lindsay Relays, which were
snowed out last Thursday, will
be competed. "It'll be during
Spring Break, but I don't know
the day yet," said Athletic
Director Gary McElroy.
OLNEY — The Lady
Indians Varsity Softball Team
found their trip to Olney almost
as unpleasant as their trip to City
View.
Though the Lady Indians
threatened to bust open big
innings in the 1st, 4th, and 5th
innings, they were never able to
get the clutch hits necessary to
do so.
The Lady Indians ended up
falling to the Lady Cubs 13-2 in
4-ft innings.
It was a game in which noth-
ing seemed to go right for the
Lady Indians as they managed
only three hits, one each from

It was Robertson's hit that
plated Kristyn Weaver and
Savannah Smith in the 5th
inning for the Indians only runs
of the game.
Not only was it a tough day
at the plate for the Lady Indians,
but it was a tough day in the
field as the team had 7 errors
that led to 8 unearned runs for
the Lady Cubs.
Though the errors did hurt
the Lady Indians, the hometown
Lady Cubs didn't need a lot of
help as they managed 13 hits in
the game.
The Lady Indians will tried

record Tuesday March 11th
when they host Henrietta.
