Katie Williams
BOWIE —Katie L.
Williams, 88, of Independence
Hall in Bowie, Texas, died Feb.
8, 2007, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral Services were held at
10 a.m. Monday at the First
United Methodist Church of
Bowie with Dr. Martha Myre
officiating. Interment followed
at 3:30 p.m. in Covington,
Texas.
Arrangements entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home
of Bowie.

Falls, Texas 76310 or to your
favorite charity.
Katie was born Feb. 18,
1918, in Kennedy to John and
Birdie Cowart. She and Frank
C. Williams, Jr. were married
Sept. 27, 1946. Frank and Katie
traveled extensively in Europe
while living in London from
1971 to 1976.
As a devoted mother, grand-
mother, and homemaker, she
was fondly known as Nanna.
She was well known for her
artistic talents and was associat-
ed with many volunteer organi-
zations throughout the years in
Midland, Gunter, Wichita Falls,
Fort Worth, and Bowie. Mrs.
Williams was a past president
and lifetime member of Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority, as well as a
member of the Home
Demonstration Club in Graham.
Her hobbies included painting
porcelain, playing cards, work-
ing crossword puzzles, and fam-
ily getaways to Possum
Kingdom Lake. She was a
member of the Carter Lake
Road Church of Christ in
Bowie.
She is preceded in death by
her parents; husband, Frank
Williams on Jan. 28, 1986; son,
Gene Robert Henderson on Oct.
30, 1985; and granddaughter,
Kimberly Kay Henderson on
Sept. 12, 1972.
She is survived by her daugh-
ters, Kay Slack and husband,
Larry of Bowie and Gayle

ATHENS - Services for
Thomas E. "Tom" Covington,
60, of Athens were held at 10
a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at
the First United Methodist
Church of Athens with Rev.
Jack Matkin officiating.
Graveside services followed
at 2:30 p.m. at the Montague
Cemeteiy under the direction of
Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of
Athens.
Mr. Covington died Feb. 10
in a Tyler hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1926,
in Crockett to the late James and
Maiyr Hemby Covington. Tom
resided in Houston for 31 years
moving to Athens 7 years ago
and was a member of the First
United Methodist Church. He
graduated from the University
of Oklahoma with a degree in
petroleum engineering and was
an engineer with W.R. Grace
Petroleum Company in Houston
for 15 years before retiring in
1991.
A stepson, Brian Cutter
Hamilton, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include: his wife,
Vivian Hoover Covington of
Athens; a daughter, Sheree
Dawn Speck of Flouston; a step-
son James Bradley Hamilton
and wife Isabel of Austin; a sis-
ter, Vivian Hengstebeck of
Detroit, Mich.; grandchildren,
Sarah and Hannah Speck,
Bradalyn Joan Hamilton, Kristy,
Joe James and David Garcia,
Phoenix Hamilton; great-grand-
daughter Skyla Joan Hamilton;
an aunt Evelyn Montgomery of
Lebanon, Tenn.; and numerous
nephews and nieces.
Myrna Cantrell
S AINT JO - Graveside serv-
ices for Myrna L. Cantrell, 67,
of Saint Jo will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at
Mountain Park Cemetery in
Saint Jo with C.E. Cole officiat-
ing.
Arrangements are under the
direction of Scott-Morris
Funeral Home of Nocona.
Myrna was born May 9,
1939, in Saint Jo the daughter of
Loy T. Stone and Frances
Harwood. She married David
Cantrell on July 30, 1960, and
passed away Feb. 11 in
Carrollton.
Myrna was the owner of
Saint Jo Florist along with her
mother Frances Stone. She was
preceded in death by her parents
and by a daughter, Monica Kay
Cantrell on May 3, 2004.
Survivors include: his hus-
band, David Cantrell of Saint
Jo: a son, David Lynn and wife
Renee Cantrell of Washington;
a brother, Michael J. Stone of
Saint Jo; a sister, Kay Casey of
Saint Jo; four grandchildren,
Angela, Sarah, William and
Samantha Cantrell; and numer-
ous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Loyd Milliard
Funeral services for retired
veteran Loyd G. Hilliard, 85, of
Nocona were held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at the
Scott-Morris Funeral Chapel.
Burial followed at Nocona
Cemetery.
Loyd was born Aug. 7, 1920,
in Lingleville the son of Ed
Hilliard and Mattie Jones. He
married Ruby Wilson. He
passed away Feb. 5 in Nocona.
Loyd worked as a painter for
40 years which he loved to do.
He served with the U.S.
Army where he earned the
American Theater Campaign
Medal, the Good Conduct
Medal, the Victory Ribbon and
a service strip.
Survivors include: his wife,
Ruby Hilliard of Nocona; chil-
dren, Pauline Hilliard of Uvalde
and Phyllis Hilliard of Bowie;
one grandchild and two great-
grandchildren.
Georgia Millican
Graveside services for
Georgia Alice Millican, 74, of
Montague, will be held
Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at 12
noon at the Parker Memorial
Cemetery in Grapevine. Eric
Jiles and Terry Bryan will offi-
ciate.
Arrangements are under the
direction of Jerry Woods
Funeral Home of Nocona.
A homemaker and a Baptist,
Mrs., Millican was born Jan. 9,
1933, in Grapevine the daughter
of Ulysess Harrington and Mary
Avrett. She married Herman
Warren Millican on July 30,
1949, in Grapevine. He preced-
ed her in death on March 20,
1999. She passed away at Home
Place in Tyler on Feb. 11.
Survivors include: her chil-
dren, Herman Millican of Fort
Worth, Danny Millican of
Montague, Andy Millican of
Pittsburgh, Jacky Millican of
Nocona, Kathy Cain of Wills
Point, Elaine Morse of Fort
Worth, Carla Conatser of Point
and Alice Hooper of Pittsburg;
sister, Doris Pond of Saginaw
and Lois Pond of Euless; 25
grandchildren; 54 great-grand-
children and two great-great-
grandchildren.
Her sons and grandsons
served as pallbearers.

McBroom, 23, daughter of
Dennis and Nell Ann McBroom
of Nocona, was a December
graduate of Texas Tech
University.
Randi received her Masters
of Hotel and Restaurant
Management on Dec. 15. She
received a Bachelor or Science
from Texas A&M University in
Agricultural Sciences and
Development with a minor in
Horticulture in August 2005.
Randi is a 2001 graduate of
Prairie Valley High School.
Randi has worked for the past
five years as a floral designer
and as an events coordinator for
the Texas Tech Athletic
Department at Spirit Arena and
the Sky Boxes at the Tech foot-
ball stadium,
Randi is currently employed
by Todd Fiscus of Todd's
Events and Design of Dallas
where she will be an events
coordinator and designer.
University of Texas
AUSTIN - Taylor McNew
has earned the designation
Arnpla cum Laude on the
Dean's Honor List for the fall
2006 semester at the University
of Texas at Austin.
Her scholastic performance
also earned an award from the
T exas Interdi sciplinary
Program. She has been selected
as a counselor for incoming
2007 UT freshmen at Camp
Texas and to participate in
another select UT program,
"Leadership Education and
Planning" (LEAP).
Miss McNew is the 17-year-
old daughter of Jeb and Barbara
McNew of Nocona.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the
Nocona General Hospital, Nocona Home Health and
the Nocona Church of the Nazarene.
A special thanks to Dr. West who took time to
offer his prayers and friendship to our mother.

For all who extended kindness to our loved one
and to our family during this time we offer our grati-
