Eagles survive tough test
FORESTBURG — The
Montague boys came away
from Forestburg with a hard
fought 45-38 victory on
January 21st.
The game was close from
the start to finish. The Eagles
led 14-10 at the end of the
1st quarter and saw the
Longhorns take a 16-14 lead.
Montague responded with an
8 point run but Forestburg
fought back just before the
half to cut it to a 3 point
game 25-22.
The second half was just
as intense with both teams
scoring in spurts and then
seeing their opponent
respond likewise. Keck
Jones showed his defensive
skills and passing ability
while scoring 2.
Brenton Vineyard had 22
points with two second half -
pointers. Austin Uselton
came through in the fourth
quarter with five valuable
points. Brendan Ramsey
hustled from end to end pro-
viding rebounding strength
with some good shooting
and scored 12. Anthony Rios
worked hard on defense, had
some key rebounds and
totaled 4 points.

coached team with some

FORESTBURG — The
Montague Lady Eagles got
beat in a tough game 31-25
by the Lady Longhorns for
Forestburg. It was a hard-
fought battle that went down
to the wire and could have
gone either way.
"The girls gave it their all
and played with such deter-
mination and intensity that
you couldn't tell that they
lost the game in the end
because they were all proud
of their performance, the
girls have heart!" says Coach
Cromleigh.
Scoring and stats: Angel
Rhudy 12 points, 8
rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist;
Yvonne Croxton 8 points, 4
rebounds, 7 steals, 1 assist;
Cbloey Hamilton 4 points, 2
rebounds 3 steals 2 assists;
Mai lory Page 1 point 5

Mitchell (6), Reagan Barret
(4) and Ashley Henley (4)
worked the lane for another
14 points for the Indians.
The next two games will
determine the Lady Indians

to host Holliday Tuesday

Jacksboro on Friday.
Nocona defeated both teams
in the first round of district
action.

PERRIN — The
Montague Lady Eagles also
played in the Perrin
Tournament.
The Lady Eagles played a
great game against Garner
winning 40-22. The great
defense forced lots of
turnovers as the Lady Eagles
shot the ball well.
"It was a great win," says
Coach Cromleigh.
On Saturday the girls had
to play Perrin without their
leading scorer who was out
with an injury and lost in a
barn-burner 28-34.
"The girls gave it all that
they had and made me
proud," says Coach
Cromleigh. Then the girls
drew Chico for the 3rd place
trophy game and came away
victorious winning 19-11.
Point totals for the three
tournament games were:
Yvonne Croxton 33 points,
Chloey Hamilton 17, Angel
Rhudy 17, Mallory Page 11,
Kynadee Croxton 4,
