Senior Citizens schedule parties

Twelve members of the Senior
Citizens will be honored at the
monthly birthday party Thursday
evening, December 13, at the
Center.
Members with December
birthdays include Bonnie Berger
(12/3), Myrtle McCan and Aimer
Patton (12/10), Doyle Benson,
Everett Hill, Bertie Smith, and
Lula Mae Wescott (12/19),
Connie Nance (12/20), Owen

King (12/21), Dorothy Britt
(12/28), Earl Denton (12/29), and
Louise Culp( 12/30).
Cakes will be brought by
members who had birthdays last
month. Ice cream and snacks will
also be served, and those
attending will participate in the
usual table games
The night after the birthday
party, Senior Citizens will
celebrate the holiday season by
having a combined Thanksgiving
and Christmas dinner at 6 p.m.
Commissisoners J. W. Allen and
Ray Garrett will be providing
turkeys for the dinner and those
attending will bring a covered
dish.
Events the past week at the
center included a covered dish
luncheon last Wednesday with 18
members in attendance and
regular game night on Thursday
with 16 attending.
MIDLAND/ODESSA-The Midland-Odessa Symphony and
Chorale will present the Lone Star Brass Quintet in their Holiday
Concert on Monday, Dec. 17, at First Presbyterian Church in
Midland at 800 West Texas, and on Thursday, Dec. 20, at Firjst
Presbyterian Church in Odessa at 1401 N. Sam Houston. Both
performances begin at 8 p.m.
The-concert will feature many traditional Christmas favorites. The
Lone Star Brass Quintet is a resident ensemble of the Midland-
Odessa Symphony & Chorale. Members of the Quintet are Patrick
Hund, trumpet; Michael Santorelli, trumpet; Adam Norris, horn;
Robb Belcher, trombone; and Alan Harvey, tuba. Each is a member
of the Midland-Odessa Symphony and teaches in the public schools.
Tickets may be purchased by calling the Symphony office at 915-
563-5269.

South Seminole
Baptist revival
begins today
Today (Sunday) marks the
beginning of the "Healing Touch"
revival at South Seminole Baptist
Church. Waymon Swopcs of
Midland will be doing the
preaching! and Jim Fullingim of
Lubbock will be leading the
music and singing.
Services will be held today at
11 a.m. and 7 p.m. A noon meal
will be served at the church
following the morning worship
service today. Activities tonight
will begin at 6 p.m. with a
sandwich supper in the
Fellowship Hall.
Week day services (Monday
through Thursday) will be at
11:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Lunch will
be provided at the 11:45 a.m.
service. Pre-revival activities
have been planned for each week
night at 6:15 for all age groups.
Jim Fullingim now resides in
Lubbock. He is in full time
evangelistic music ministry.
Jim's life was changed
dramatically several years ago
when he was freed from alcohol
abuse through an encounter with
Jesus Christ. He shares this
testimony through his music
ministry wherever he goes.
Waymon Swopes is pastor of
the Greenwood Baptist Church
near Midland. Waymon was born
in Portales, NM, and has spent
most of his life in West Texas.
Prior to moving to Midland in
1988, he pastored the First
Baptist Church of Petersburg for
nine years. In addition to being a
pastor, Waymon preaches several
revivals every year.
"We are privileged to have two
men of such character and ability
and Jim and Waymon to lead us
in our revival," stated Pastor
Jerry Becknal.
The public is cordially invited
to attend any and all of the
"Healing Touch" revival
activities at South Seminole
Baptist Church. The church is
located at 211 S.W. Avenue E.
