Bananas.—Wo gavo tho advice a few
days siuco that bananas should always bo
planted in tho lowest and lnoistest
grounds, where tho water gathered and
settled. It' any person wishes to see a
proof of the correctness of this advice,
they have only to look at tho nourishing
condition of a cluster of bananas standing
in tho water at tho "Old Mill Btul«ij." We
do not advise planting them iii Ike Water,

3 'A Double Wedding, or, llow
Slic Was Won, by Mrs. C. A. War-
field, author of '.'The Housohold of Bou-
veric," is published this day by T. B. Pe-
terson ,<■ Brothers, Philadelphia, and we
predict for it as great a popularity and as
largo a tale as her previous work, "The
Household of Bouverie," which has been
pronounced by all tho best writers aud
critics in the country to bo ono of the best
and most remarkable works over written.
It has tho great merit of arousing curiosi-
ty and keeping it alert, from tho first to
tlio last lino. There is great power.of lan-
guage in it, manifested not only in tho de-
scriptive portions, and in raro images, but
in the happy cnithet that often tells the
whole story. The plot is skilfully conduc-
ted, and there is an earnestness in the
style thut is dbarmiug. From the first to
the last, chapter, the reader's interest in
the story never for a moment Hags, llis
curiosity, which is excited at. the very
commencement of the tale, though grati-
fied, little by little, as the story progress-
es, is not completely satisfied, until the
curtain is about to drop at tho cldfeo »f the
book. Thero is in it a blending of heart
and intellect really wonderful, and its do-
liniations of character are vivid, cloar,
powjerfril, and exquisite. Nono but a wo-
man could have written it—nono but a
woman of tho highest order could givo,
such skotoheg of character. It is publish-
ed in ono largo duodecimo volume, bound
in morocco cloth, gilt bitck and side, price
$1.75, and will bo found for sale by all
booksellers, or copies of it will be tent to
any on#, to any place, post-paid, on re-
