VOLLEYBALL
From, page 13
Dennemann said. "If you go in on the
first play and get an amazing kill or
an amazing play, automatically that
puts fear into the other team. The
win was great."
'[Holderness] is a dual
player.... She can go
from left to right to
middle whenever we
need her to.'
— Genny Volpe
Head women's volleyball coach
Volpe said Dennemann will have
an increased role this season.
"You can see the confidence in her
building everyday, and that's what 1
like to see as a coach," Volpe said.
"Her ball control is key for us. I
think she realizes that her role has
changed. We're relying on her quite
a bit, [and] I think she has definitely
embraced that."
Against Louisiana-Lafayette,
senior outside hitter Olaya Pazo
led the Owls, contributing a team-
high 11 kills and 11 digs. Senior
setter Kristina Hoban led the team
in digs with 12, and junior middle
blocker Tessa Kuykendall also had
10 kills.
Dennemann said she thinks the
team will be successful because of
its chemistry.
"There's not a separation of
age on this team — everyone is
very much together," Dennemann
said. "We don't differentiate who
has been here for a while and who
hasn't. If you're on the floor, you're
all together."
