Kirk Not Move rfrom Tulia
Amarillo Texas Mnv 20 1920
Editor of The Tulia Herald
Tulia Texas
Dear Sirs
Every time I am down in the
city a good many folks ask me
if I have moved to Amarillo
We have not as we pay our
poll tax there also pay the
Chamber of Commerce and
told Mr Burns to put us down
on the preachers salary the
same as usual
You see T have left or moved
from Tulia twice before and
always came back So have decided
that it isnt any use to
try it again I dont know why
but there is some thing about
the town and people I just like
I believe to take them as a
whole I dont think that you
could teat tliem any whereIn
nil my travels I have
never found any bcttcr place
to live really never did care
for a large town I like to live
in a place where you know
everybody and can call them
by their name and where they
know you
However it looks tin though
Tulia is going to get out of my
class when tho R R and the
oil comes in
Then I may have to pick one
a smaller place to live Trust
ing that prosperity is smiling
down on you and yours
Yours very trnlv

Tis done to help and not for show
Our Cemetery is clean we are glad to say
For soon may come our final day
May o er the graves the flowers grow
And birds sing as they flit to and fro
A Rest Room we maintain and tis there
The children rest and the ladies fair
We hope to be worthy of the Ked White and Blue
And aim for the best in the Cleanup Review
We sponsored the Scouts when they gave
The Armistice Program for our Soldiers brave
We know for Peace the Scouts will stand
But if called theyd go to No Mans Land
We shared in the Tree Growing Plan
We should plant n tree where eer we can
Trees and birds and Oh what joys
They give to all the girls and boys
Tulia Library is looking toward the light
It will some day be great in might
Step by step tis climbing higher
Soon twill reach the topmost spire
Thirteen hundred books on shelves do stand
Waiting to go at the readers command
Some books travel thirty miles or more
To homes where is loved the Mystical Lore
The Library tried to count once one is two
But found that would never never do
It stretched the money that s no erimo
Till some one supplied the needed dime
Enough said yet one word more
Help build your Library we implore
Li after years youll he glad to know
That you helped a library climb and grow
When Goodbyes to school have all been said
And no more lessons need he read
Tis then the children come to the Court House Square
And find our Story Hour waiting there

For the Best in homes we should always seek
And now weve told you all we do you see
