long session and not later than five weeks prior to graduation in a
summer session.
Graduate School Procedure
1. Application for Admission
Well in advance of the anticipated date of enrollment, file with
the graduate office an Application for Admission to Graduate Study,
along with complete transcripts of all previous work, undergraduate
and graduate.
2. Admission Notice
Secure from the Dean of the Graduate School a notice of admission
to graduate study.
3. Preliminary Advisement
a. Confer with the Dean of the Graduate School regarding conditions
of admission, general degree requirements, and enrollment
procedures.
b. Confer with the major department head or graduate advisor
regarding specific degree requirements, and, if time permits, for the
preparation of a Preliminary Outline of Work for the Master's Degree.
In any case, be sure of departmental guidance in selecting courses
for the first semester's work.
4. Enrollment
a. Secure enrollment materials in the Registrar's office.
b. Enroll in particular classes with the instructor involved, presenting
the department's approval of the course selections. At subsequent
enrollments, present the preliminary outline or degree plan to
indicate approval of course selections.
c. Secure approval of the schedule in the graduate office.
5. Maintenance of a Graduate Student Records Folder
Upon enrollment in the Graduate School, prepare and continue
to maintain a Graduate Student Records Folder, including all materials
relating to your status as a graduate student.
6. Preparation of a Preliminary Outline
Early in the first semester of graduate work, if it were not done
before enrollment, confer with the department head or graduate advisor
for the preparation of a Preliminary Outline of Work for the
Master's Degree. This outline will be submitted (in triplicate) by the
department to the Dean of the Graduate School for approval.
