The courses of the Bible Department are organized into five
fields: the Biblical (including Biblical languages, Old and New Testaments),
the doctrinal, the historical, the practical, and the religious
education fields. A major is offered for the Master of Arts degree
in the first three of these fields and in Biblical and Patristic Greek,
and for the Master of Science degree in the practical and religious education
fields.
Departmental Requirements for Master of Arts
Degree
Prerequisite: Bachelor of Arts degree or the equivalent.*
Major: A major may be presented in the Biblical, the doctrinal,
or the historical field. A minimum of 18 semester hours, including a
thesis, must be completed in the major field.
Minor: Six hours must be divided between two of the four fields
in the department other than the major field. The remaining six hours
may be selected in conference with the department head or graduate
advisor.
Departmental Requirements for the Master of Arts
Degree in Biblical and Patristic Greek.
Prerequisite: B.A. degree with an undergraduate major in Greek
or its equivalent, as set forth in the Abilene Christian College catalog.
Included are 30 hours N. T. Greek, Greek 351-2 or equivalent (1 year
Classical readings), 6-8 hours Latin (or two years High School Latin),
Beginning Hebrew (1 year beginning non-credit Hebrew must be
taken unless Hebrew is presented; this is prerequisite to Septuagint).
Residence and Course Requirements: The student must complete
one full year of residence (24 hours) in ACC and 30 hours above
the undergraduate major, including the following:
*A college graduate who does not have the 12 semester hours in a foreign language
may meet the language requirements by passing a comprehensive examination
