Course Requirements
Seven areas have been widely recognized as necessary in the preparation
of school counselors. In addition to these requirements, two
other areas are to be required, plus a block of electives. These areas
are listed below with those courses which are designed to provide
competency in the particular area. It should be recognized that each
student will present his own unique experiences and prior course
coverage. He could, for example, have done sufficient work in an
area at the undergraduate level to insure reasonable competence without
having additional work in that area. Each student's transcript and
experience record will be evaluated in such a manner as to assure him
of acquiring those course experiences of most value to him.
