Speech Correction
352. An Introduction to Audiology. A survey of the science of hearing,
and of the social and clinical endeavors centered in problems of hearing
loss and deafness. Prerequisite or corequisite: Speech 325.
353. Hearing Rehabilitation. Theory and practice of acoustic amplification,
auditory training, speech reading, speech rehabilitation for the
acoustically handicapped.
356. Functional Speech Disorders. A detailed study of such speech disorders
as delayed speech, voice and articulation problems, and stuttering.
The course includes case studies and clinical observation.
Prerequisite: Speech 335.
357. Organic Speech Disorders. A detailed study of speech problems associated
with such disorders as cleft palate, cerebral palsy, laryngeal
disorders, and aphasia. The course includes case studies and clinical
observation. Prerequisite: Speech 335.
293,393,493. Clinical Practice in Speech Correction. Experience in clinical
procedures in speech correction. Designed to familiarize the
student with diagnostic procedures and case material. Clinical experience
in handling cases. Prerequisite: Speech 356 and 357.
294,394,494. Clinical Practice in Speech Correction. Continuation of 393,
but may be taken as an independent unit.
70G2, 70G4, 70G6. Seminar In Speech Pathology. Evaluation of theoretical
and experimental literature in speech pathology; supervised independent
investigation of specific problems; clinical experience.

Radio- Television
360. Radio Production-Directing. A course in the direction and production
of different types of radio programs. The responsibilities of the
director and the problems of each type of program are studied, with
the student receiving actual experience in production. Two hours
lecture and three hours laboratory each week.
362. Radio Writing. A course in writing music continuity, commercials,
and continuity for special broadcasts. An introduction is given to
the writing of radio drama and radio documentary. Three hours lecture
and two hours laboratory each week.
364. Religious Radio. A study of religious radio including the following
topics: media characteristics, purpose, history, outlets (local stations,
networks, religious stations, and missionary stations), audience, and
foreign broadcasting. Three hours lecture and one hour laboratory
each week.
