the first and second laws of thermodynamics, heat, ideal gases, reversibility,
irreversibility, the Carnot cycle, entrophy, enthalpy,
change of phase, low temperature physics, and applications. Three
hours lecture each week. Prerequisites: 12 hours physics and six hours
calculus.
373. Analytical Mechanics. Analytical vector method of static systems of
forces, couples, and moments, particle dynamics, rigid body dynamics,
work, kinetic and potential energy momentum and the conservation
laws. Prerequisite: Twelve hours physics and Mathematics 355.
382. Electromagnetism. Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic field theory,
magnetostatic field theory, dielectrics, displacement current, current
density, poynting vector, radiation of electromagnetic waves in material
media. Three hours lecture each week. Prerequisites: Physics
451 and Mathematics 355.
293, 493. Advanced Laboratory. The student is introduced to the design
of experiments and techniques of research for introduction to graduate
work. Six hours laboratory each week, if taken for two credit
hours, and 12 if taken for four credit hours. Prerequisite: 24 hours
physics.
394. Introduction to Quantum Mechanics. Bohr-Sommerfield theory, de
Broglie waves, uncertainty principle, Schroedinger wave equation,
Heisenberg operators, perturbations, interatomic and intermolecular
forces. Three hours lecture each week. Prerequisite: Physics 360.
495. Physical Chemistry. Structure of molecules, gases, solids, liquids,
elementary thermodynamics, thermochemistry, and solutions. Three
lectures and four hours laboratory each week. Prerequisite: Chemistry
555 and 450, Mathematics 422 and Physics 414, or equivalents.

Psychology
352. Mental Health. A general survey course dealing with the principles
of psychology as they relate to problems of personal and social adjustment.353. The Psychology of Individual Differences. A course dealing with differences
in intelligence, personality, and emotions, their causes and
implications.
354. Adolescent Psychology. A course having to do with the physical, emotional,
intellectual, religious, and moral characteristics of the adolescent.356. Statistics. The basic formulas and interpretation of statistics as applied
to the fields of psychology and education.
368. Introduction to Tests and Measurements. A study of standardized
and non-standardized tests that may be used in classroom instruction,
and methods underlying testing procedures.
370. Social Psychology. A study of the processes of intersocial stimulation
and their products.
372. Principles of Guidance. A basic course which is designed to acquaint
the student with the techniques of the school guidance program.
