BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
PUBLICATIONS
The Yellow Jacket. A weekly newspaper is published by the
college for coverage of campus news and to furnish students a
medium for the expression of journalistic talent. It is under the
immediate direction of the student Yellow Jacket staff, with the
general supervision of a faculty sponsor and the special counsel of
the Committee in Student Publications.
The Lasso. The Lasso is the college yearbook, published by the
college and edited by a staff appointed by its student editor. The
Lasso editor and business manager are selected by the Committee
on Student Publications. Its purpose is to crystalize college spirit.
The Link. The Link is an official publication of Howard Payne
College issued monthly by the college publicity office in the interest
of public relations and alumni contact. It is distributed to
members of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, downtown
service clubs, students of Howard Payne College, alumni and
friends.
ORGANIZATIONS
Believing that co-curricular activities contribute greatly to
one's education and college life in general, Howard Payne College
has a system of student organizations and activities that operate
within the framework of the administration, faculty, and
student association.
In order to insure maximum effectiveness of each organization
and activity and to insure proper academic emphasis the following
system of participation control is in effect.
A club is defined as any organization that has its charter or
constitution approved by the Senate of the Student Association
and Faculty Committee of Student Activities. Students are not permitted
to set up new organizations without approval of the Faculty
Committee and Student Senate.
No student may hold more than 12 points in student organization
memberships which may be apportioned as shown below. No
student may use more than 6 points in club membership. Membership
in any club counts 2 points.
The following offices are assessed the points as listed:
President Student Association 8 points
Vice-President Student Association 7
Secretary or Treasurer Student Association 5
Senator Student Association 4
President B.S.U. 7
B.S.U. Executive Council 6
President of any class 5I2
