BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
organizations, or have membership in one of the local Baptist
churches, Sunday School or Training Union, are regarded as
active members of the B.S.U.
The perennial goal of the Howard Payne B.S.U. is to challenge
every student to accept Christ as Saviour and to apply Christ's
principles in every area of life. All students, regardless of denominational
affiliation, are urged to become actively associated with
the church of their choice in Brownwood. All students in Howard
Payne are included in the activities sponsored through and by the
B.S.U. An Executive B.S.U. Council, elected yearly by the student
body, directs the work of the B.S.U. which includes a daily
devotional "Noonspiration" service, Friday afternoon Mission work
in Brownwood, dormitory sponsored devotionals, join-the-church
emphasis, the State Baptist Student convention, Campus Revival
and Religious Focus Week on alternate years, and many such
emphases which lead to the spiritual maturity of Howard Payne
students.
Jackets for Jesus. This club is made up of athletes of
Howard Payne College who feel that their main purpose in
life is to serve their Savior. The boys want others to know
the joy of accepting and living for Jesus. They feel that the
least they can do is live for Christ, since he died for us.
Life Service Band. The objective of this organization
is to offer opportunities for training and service to students
committed to God's will for their life, whether it be
in full time religious vocational service or to some lay field.
La Hora Baptista. This organization is composed of
Latin American Students. Its objectives are to evangelize
the Spanish speaking people of Texas and to develop
Christian leaders. Its members receive practical experience
by participating in a weekly radio program and in
special services held in various parts of the state.
Ministerial Association. This organization is engaged in
deepening the spiritual being of men on the campus preparing
for the gospel ministry. Services on the street and
in the jail are sponsored, affording a place of service and
fellowship for all ministers on the campus.
Mission Band. The membership of this organization is
composed of students who voluntarily band themselves
together, sharing a common interest in mission service and
seeking to learn more about world missions.
Young Women's Auxiliary. This is an organization for
college young women who are not married. They study
the programs of the different mission fields.44
