BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
LOAN FUNDS
Eloise Anderson Fund: Judge E. B. Anderson of Goldthwaite
founded this fund in memory of his daughter, Eloise Anderson,
who died in the college during the First World War. Liberty Bonds
owned by Miss Anderson at the time of her death, and an Anderson
Fund which has been enlarged by the Woman's Missionary
Union of the Sixteenth District, is to be loaned to worthy girls
who need aid.
Sally Joy Boyce Loan Fund: Miss Annie M. Boyce of the Riverside
Park Baptist Church of San Antonio created a loan fund in
memory of her sister, Miss Sallie Joy Boyce.
W. E. Miller Loan Fund: Mr. W. E. Miller of Goldthwaite
created a fund for loans to deserving students.
Calvary Baptist Church Loan Fund: The Calvary Baptist
Church of Waco established a loan fund for worthy students.
Harry Pierce Fund: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pierce of Walnut
Springs founded this fund for boys in memory of their son, Harry
Pierce, who died while a student in Howard Payne College during
the World War.
Robnett Fund: Friends of Dr. John D. Robnett, Sr., founder of
Howard Payne College, established a fund in his honor to be used
by both boys and girls.
Weatherby Fund: Mrs. J. N. Weatherby of Brownwood established
a loan fund to aid worthy young men.
McCarver Fund: Dr. and Mrs. J. W. McCarver, of Los Angeles,
California, created a loan fund for ministerial students.
James Lowry Smith Fund: Mr. J. A. Walker gave a $5,000.00
endowment to be used as a loan fund in memory of his life time
friend and partner, the late James Lowry Smith of Amarillo,
Texas. The interest from the fund will be used for loans to students
of outstanding scholarship, character, and personality whose lives
may become memorials to a great friend of Christian education.
Braswell and Billie Locker Scholarship Loan Fund: Dr. and
Mrs. Braswell Locker established a loan fund to be administered
by the Scholarship Committee.
R. L. Estell Loan Fund: A loan fund was created by Mr. and
Mrs. R. L. Estell which is primarily intended to aid upper classmen.Lamkin Brothers Scholarship Loan Fund: This fund is a grant
from Messers. Charles, Lee, and Jack Lamkin and is available to
any worthy student who might be selected by the loan fund committee.51
