BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
Ministers of faiths other than Baptists may receive $50.00 per
semester for tuition in undergraduate courses. These students will
be expected to furnish from their respective denomination evidence
that they are duly ordained or licensed ministers.
Honor Graduates: First honor graduates of high schools will
receive credit for $200.00 on the first year's tuition immediately
following graduation from high school; second honor graduates,
$100.00. These scholarships are sent to accredited institutions
by the Texas Association of Church Related Colleges.
Failure of Scholarship Students to Make Passing Grades: Any
scholarship student who fails one or more courses will be expected
to pay for the work failed at the prevailing tuition rate.
Any student expelled or asked to quit his college career will be
charged with all scholarship grants which he has received during
the current semester. Students who are not able to continue their
study and are forced to drop will be allowed a percentage of their
scholarship prorated over eighteen (18) weeks.
The N. B. Bunin Scholarship. The income from this $5,000.00
scholarship is awarded yearly in the field of elementary education
to worthy students regardless of color or creed.
Coggin Scholarships. Under the will of the late Mr. and Mrs.
S. R. Coggin a portion of the Coggin Endowment provides for
scholarships in the Home Economics and Agriculture departments.
Recipients must be residents of Brown County.
Blanche Lowe Grove Scholarship Fund. The late Dr. Roxy
Harriett Grove left to Howard Payne College a fund creating
scholarships in memory of her mother, Mrs. Blanche Lowe Grove.
Mrs. Grove was a member of the early faculties of Howard Payne
College.
Sam W. Hughes Memorial Scholarships. Mrs. Sam W. Hughes
of Brady gives ten full scholarships annually to worthy students,
especially those whose parents are missionaries.
H. L. Locker Scholarships. Dr. and Mrs. H. L. Locker grant
annually ten full scholarships from the Locker Endowment Fund.
Morrow Scholarship. Mrs. Genevieve Morrow of Houston
gives a scholarship to a worthy student majoring in English, Agriculture
or Music, or to a ministerial or Latin-American student.
Dr. Ben M. Shelton Endowed Scholarship. The late Dr. Ben
M. Shelton endowed a scholarship for a worthy girl or boy.
Texas Federation of Women's Clubs Scholarship. The Texas
Federation of Women's Clubs, of which Mrs. Alfred Joseph House53
