BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
The other seven units may be selected from the list of subjects
accepted by the Texas Education Agency. Not more than four units
can be accepted from any group.
The student must also be in the upper three-fourths of the graduating
class to be accepted for unconditional academic admission.
II. By Examination. Applicants who have been graduated from
unaffiliated schools or those who do not have 15 affiliated units to
their credit even though they were graduated from affiliated schools,
or those who ranked in the lower one-fourth of graduating class,
may be admitted by examination. Only veterans over 18 years of
age and other persons over 21 years of age who have not been
graduated from high school will be permitted to enter by examination
without being graduated from a secondary school. The
General Education Development test designed by the U.S.A.F.I. is
used. The examination can be taken at Howard Payne College
before registration day. Please allow at least two days to complete
the test.
III. By Transfer from Another College or University. Students who
wish to transfer from other institutions of higher learning are required
to submit transcripts from the school previously attended.
Credit toward a degree at Howard Payne College will be granted
on courses in which the grade is D, only when such grades are
compensated by other grades of B or better. The overall average
must be C, as this is the average grade required for graduation.
The maximum number of hours that can be transferred from a
junior college is 64. This includes four hours of physical training.
No advanced hours can be transferred from a junior college.
No student who is under suspension at another institution will
be considered for admission to Howard Payne College until he is
eligible for readmission to the former institution.
STUDENT CONDUCT
Students applying for enrollment (admission) in Howard
Payne College must furnish satisfactory evidence (references)
of good moral character and must agree to conform to the regulations
and policies established by the administration. Hazing,
drinking, profanity, gambling, dancing, and other conduct unbecoming
to a student enrolled in this institution will be the
basis for administrative action.
A minor student (under 21) who plans to marry during the
school year must have parent or guardian notify the Dean of Stu56
