BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
The honor roll is figured on a minimum of 15 semester hours.
In case a person carries more than 15 hours the calculation is on
the highest 15 hours. Those who earn at least 36 honor points are
placed on the honor roll.
Hours and honor points earned on music ensemble, will not be
included in the total. Private music will not be included except for
declared music majors.
SCHOLASTIC SUSPENSION
The faculty regulations regarding academic deficiency are designed
to provide close supervision of the program of study and the
progress of students who fall below the C average required for
graduation. To implement this the following regulations will apply:
1. Academic Supervision-when a student has earned, cumulatively,
fewer honor points than semester hours, he will be placed
on academic supervision under the direction of the Dean of students.
The student will be allowed two semesters to remove the
deficiency.
2. Academic Probation-when the student has not removed the
academic supervision in two semesters, he is placed on academic
probation. Unless this condition is removed in one semester he
will be asked to withdraw from school for one semester.
3. Academic Suspension-A student will be placed on academic
suspension
a. For one semester-unless he passes at least six semester
hours of regular three or four hour courses when enrolled
for twelve or more semester hours; or unless he passes a
minimum of two thirds of the regular three or four hour
courses when enrolled for less than twelve semester hours.
b. For two semesters-when he fails to pass any of the regular
three or four semester hours courses for which he
was enrolled.
WITHDRAWALS AND CHANGES
No student will be permitted to add, drop or change courses
after the first two weeks of semester without penalty. Each change
made in courses after the first two class days results in a charge of
$1.00. At any time within a semester, the Registrar or Dean may
drop a student from a course or from school for a cause with a
recorded grade of WP (withdrew passing) or WF (withdrew failing)
according to the estimate of the instructor in the course. The58
