BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM CLASS LOAD
A semester hour represents one hour of classroom work per
week for 18 weeks. For each class period two hours of preparation
are expected. Two or three hours of laboratory work are counted
as equivalent to one recitation hour. Most courses are three
semester hours.
The normal student load is 16 semester hours.
A student may take 18 semester hours, provided he makes an
average of B during the preceding semester and pays the proportional
tuition rate for the extra hours.
A student engaged in outside work should not register for
more than 12 semester hours, excluding physical education.
TRANSCRIPTS
Transcripts of credit will be supplied to all students and former
students requesting them, subject to certain conditions. Individuals
must have made satisfactory arrangements to care for all amounts
of money due the college and must not be under disciplinary
restrictions. Official transcripts will not be given to undergraduate
students, but will be forwarded to designated officials. A fee of
$1.00 will be charged for each duplicate transcript. The registrar's
office should be notified at least 3 days before transcript is required
in order to have sufficient time to do the necessary checking
before a transcript can be made.
THE SUMMER SESSION
Howard Payne College offers a most convenient plan for
summer instruction. Regular degree courses are offered as well as
a wide range of subjects especially adapted for teachers. Courses in
elementary and secondary education, art, music, and physical education
make up a great part of the schedule. Members of the resident
faculty conduct most of the courses.
The summer session is divided into two six weeks terms. A total
of six semester hours may be earned each six weeks. It is the custom
of the college to offer several workshops during the summer.62
