CORRESPONDENCE COURSES
Howard Payne College is approved by the Texas Education
Agency and the Association of Texas Colleges as an institution
qualified to offer work by correspondence and extension. A maximum
of 30 hours can be completed by a combination of correspondence
and extension work. A maximum of 18 hours can be
completed in correspondence on a degree. The cost of the course is
the same as for work done in residence.
No student is permitted to be enrolled in more than one corre.
spondence course at a time. If a student is currently in residence
at Howard Payne, no credit will be allowed for a correspondence
course taken from another institution without special permission
from the dean of the college. The permission must be granted before
the student enrolls for the correspondence course. Credit will
not be allowed on correspondence courses from another institution
if completed during the same time a student is enrolled for a correspondence
course from Howard Payne College. A minimum of 45
days is required for each course. If college credit is desired, a transcript
of the student's record must be on file in the registrar's office.
All study and written work may be carried on at home. If
credit is to be given, a course taken through correspondence study
must terminate with an examination administered under the supervision
of some college or university that is a member of the Association
of Texas Colleges. If the examination is taken under the
supervision of the Department of Extension, Howard Payne College,
no examination fee will be charged. If the examination is taken
under the supervision of a member of the Association of Texas
Colleges offering correspondence study courses, a fee of $2.00 will
be paid. If taken under the supervision of a college or university
that does not offer courses by correspondence study, a fee of $5.00
must be paid.
Students interested in correspondence or extension work should
write the director of correspondence for a bulletin, information
and enrollment blanks.63
