COURSE NUMBERING
Courses in the 100 series are intended primarily for freshmen;
those in the 200 series for sophomores; those in the 300 series for
juniors; those in the 400 series for seniors; and those in the 500
series, exclusively for graduates. Some flexibility is allowed both up
and down at all levels. Graduate students will receive credit for
work in the 300, 400, and 500 series only.

Thirty hours of English are required for a major in English
with twenty-one hours prescribed and nine hours elected from lists
as designated.
Eighteen hours of English are required for a minor in English
with fifteen hours from the prescribed courses and three hours
elected from the lists as designated.

Eighteen hours of English are required for a single Graduate
Minor in English. Six hours should be chosen from the Required
Courses for Graduate Work (English 501, English 502, and English
