Greek
Greek is recognized as one of the most versatile of all languages
and has been called "the most perfect vehicle for the expression
of thought that has ever existed." Its cultural advantages are immeasurable.
Major emphasis is given to preparing the student to
read the greatest book in the world in the language in which it was
written-the Greek New Testament. Courses are available on
Homer and the Greek classics.
English 101 and 102 are required before beginning the study
of Greek.
Greek 201 and 202 are prerequisite to all other courses.
GREEK 201 and 202. ELEMENTARY GREEK. A beginner's course
in Koine or New Testament Greek designed to enable the student
to begin reading the Greek New Testament.
Eight semester hours.
GREEK 301, 302, ADVANCED GREEK. The principles of grammar
will be reviewed and facility sought in translating portions of the
Greek New Testament.
Six semester hours.
GREEK 303, 304. NEW TESTAMENT GREEK. A study of selected
portions of the Greek New Testament for the purpose of developing
skill in translation and interpretation.
Three semester hours each.
GREEK 401, 402. EXEGESIS. A study of the principles of exegesis
as applied to the Greek New Testament, with the homiletical intent
stressed.
Three semester hours each.
GREEK 403, 404. CLASSICAL GREEK. A study of the variations of
classical and Koine Greek with translations of select portions of the
Greek authors from Homer onward.
