Financial Information
Harvey and Velma Robinson Scholarship: An endowed scholarship
established to aid ministerial students.
The Robnett Scholar Program: Established in the memory of F. Yantis
Robnett by his family and friends. Recipients must have conduct, attitudes,
and academic standards that follow the high ideals of the University.
J. H. "Cap" Shelton: The many friends and former athletes of the late Cap
Shelton have donated to this fund to be used for track scholarships in honor of
"Cap" for his many years of service at Howard Payne.
William and Frances Sims Scholarship: Endowed scholarship established by
Mr. and Mrs. William J. Sims of Dallas, Texas. Earnings are to be awarded to
full-time ministerial students selected by the Financial Aid Committee of
Howard Payne.
Mr. and Mrs. Porter V. Smith Scholarship Fund: Endowed scholarship
established by the estate of Mrs. Daisy E. Smith of Cleburne, Texas. Earnings
are to be used to assist deserving students who possess high ethical and
scholastic standing and who demonstrate financial need.
E. L. Sparkman Scholarship Fund: Endowed scholarship fund established
in honor of Mr. Sparkman to assist ministerial students.
L. C. Sparkman Scholarship Fund: Established in honor of Rev. L. C.
Sparkman to assist married ministerial students who responded to the call of
God later in life.
J. W. Switzer Scholarship: A scholarship established by the Early Bank. To
be awarded each year to a graduate of Blanket High School.
Thomas Taylor Scholarship: Many friends of the late Dr. Thomas Taylor,
President Emeritus, Howard Payne, have donated to this memorial fund to be
administered by the president of the college.
Student Foundation Scholarships: The Howard Payne University Foundation,
an organization of students committed to enhancing the University's
image, raising scholarship monies and recruiting students, awards scholarships
during the fall and spring semesters. Awards are made to upper-classmen on
the basis of financial need and/or contributions to Howard Payne University.
Applications should be submitted directly to the Student Foundation.
Bob J. Teddlie Scholarship Fund: Endowed scholarship established by
Northwest Baptist Church of Austin, Texas in memory of their pastor. Earnings
from the fund are to be awarded to those students who have surrendered
for Christian service and are working toward a full time church vocation.
Dr. W. C. Tenery and Gracie Tenery Memorial Scholarship Fund: An
endowed scholarship fund established by Gracie Tenery, of Waxahachie,
Texas to assist worthy students.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Thomas Scholarship Fund: Established by Mr. and Mrs.
R. B. Thomas of Hattiesburg, Mississippi for the purpose of assisting worthy
students. To be granted by the president of the university and Mr. and Mrs.
W. C. Carpenter. This fund originates from the Mississippi Baptist
Foundation.43
