Chapel/Convocation Attendance
Chapel is required of students attending Howard Payne University
A required chapel service or convocation is held on Tuesday and Thursday
in order that students may come to understand something of the experience of
worship, which is the dynamic for religious living, and to provide instruction
and inspiration through programs on a variety of themes. Those who sincerely
participate may come to appreciate the wide-range concerns of the Christian
faith in intellectual, social, political and artistic ideas and issues involved in
everyday experience.
Residence Halls
Howard Payne University is essentially a residence university; and all single

cafeteria. Residence halls are maintained as part of the total educational experience
available to students. They provide a supportive framework for intellectual
and social growth and development. Therefore, all unmarried, undergraduate
students are required to live in student housing facilities provided by
the University as long as there are vacancies. In the event that students cannot
be accommodated in a residence hall at the time of registration, their names
will be placed on a waiting list and they will be requested to move into a
residence hall as space becomes available.
Students, other than those living with their parents, must have the approval
of the Vice President for Student Affairs for off-campus living. A statement of
conditions under which approval may be granted may be obtained from the
Office of Student Affairs. Requests for permission to live off-campus should
be made to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

All students applying for admission to University housing must forward to
the Admissions Office a deposit of $2"500 (along with room application) which
will be held as security for damages. Any unused portion will be refunded on
request within one year after withdrawal or graduation. In no case will any of
the deposit be refunded until the student has cleared all his financial obligations
to the university.
Room assignments are made and contracts sent before July 1 for the Fall
Semester. Applications received after this date will be processed and sent
before students are to arrive on campus. Contracts are to be completed and
returned to the Office of Student Affairs.
