Academic Information
Freshmen-Students with less than thirty semester hours credit.
Sophomores-Thirty semester hours
Juniors-Sixty semester hours.
Seniors-Ninety semester hours.
College Credit for Military Service
College credit may be gained by veterans who have been to service schools.
Credit for college work is based upon the recommendations found in "A
Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services."
Continuing Education Division
Howard Payne University has implemented and developed a comprehensive
Continuing Education Program which is recognized and approved by both
state and regional accrediting agencies.
There are available in the late afternoons and during the evenings several
college course offerings for those persons who cannot attend the regularly
scheduled daytime classes. Those who desire to begin work on a degree or who
wish to resume formal studies toward a Bachelor's degree are invited to take
advantage of the opportunities sponsored by the Division of Continuing
Education.
The Bachelor of General Studies is offered especially for those mature
adults who seek a program tailored particularly to their individual needs.
For those seeking organized activities for personal enrichment, recreation
and pleasure, a number of credit-free courses, seminars, workshops and group
studies are offered throughout the academic year. Interested individuals and
groups are invited to contact the Director of Continuing Education.
Course Numbering System
Courses are numbered using four digits. The explanation is as follows:
The first digit indicates level:
1-Freshman
2-Sophomore
3-Junior
4-Senior
The second number indicates semester hour credit:
1-1 hour credit
2-2 hours credit
3-3 hours credit, etc.
The third number is to denote courses within a department:67
